thinking about start my driving career need some advice
well i guess you guys get these questions all the time but heres another one so any advice you can give me will br apprciated
i currently work for CSX (raiload) I am a conductor for them i have been out on the railroad for a while now and i guess you all have heard the stories just like i did about how much money can be made working on the railroad ? well i am living proof that those stories are not TRUE at all this place i work for you have to worry from day to day if you still gonna have your job when you come back the next day or not and the money is not so great i average 1500 dollars before taxes every 2 weeks the only upside is when i do go out of town i am only gone for maybe 2-3 days then i am back home for a day or 2 the supervisors that we work for is constantly hiding in the bushs tring to find us breaking a rule so they can fire us and i am fed up with that so i have decided maybe on trying this i was looking at trucking before i went to teh railraos and was looking at going to work for TMC my question is should i stay where i am at or come to the trucking industry??? thanx for any help

How long do you have and the RR?
What type of Benefits are you going to give up?(pensions, health, vacation, etc.) Do you have a family and are they going to be ok with longer "out" times? These are only a few things to consider. I am no expert but be sure to weigh all sides before making a move. BOL

You are the only one who can decide it you should come into the trucking industry. You say you are gone 2 to 3 days now. Well during your training period and first year of driving it is likely you will be gone for a month at a time. Trucking also has its politics just like anything else. Can you handle all the time alone. You just need to get on different message boards and research. I don't driver for schneider but pumpkindriver.com is a very good message board for someone getting into driving. I love driving but it is not for everyone, do your research before you jump in and BOL
