I must say, having come from some pretty dire straights sometimes, that was a very kind offer, whether he was telling the truth or not.

This reminds me of something a couple years ago. I was a chaperon for an 8th grade field trip to Washington DC. We were sitting down on some steps watching this guy in ratty button up jacket, and ratty pants, holding out his hat with a big thick pair of sunglasses on asking for money.

As people walked by they tossed dollar bills into his hat, every single person without hesitation was just dropping money in his hat. Me and a few of the kids I was with kinda looked at each other in amazement. About 10 minutes later, this same guy pulls his handfuls of money out of the hat, wads it up into his pocket and proceeds to walk down to the street. It is there that he gets into what looks like a nice brand new silver Lexus and drives off.

I no longer hand out money to strangers. If I see a homeless guy asking for money I usually go into a store close by and get them something to eat. But I never ever give them money anymore.

Whats really low r the ones still pandhandling a bucket with katrina written on the side peddling a so called ministers permit.
not even in the state of la almost 2 years after.
Or how bout the trucker who stopped to help a lady out and got shot in the back multiple times.
99 percent of these frs are panhandling and the other 1 percent dont get the help they need.
