Trip Planning Tips . .
#61
The few times I talk on the CB is to either give directions or ask for directions. I don't know how many times I have listened or specifically asked for traffic up ahead or how to get to a location I am not familiar with. That is such a great resource and maybe one in a thousand would send you on a goose chase because they are a butt head shouldn't dismiss this resource. You are squaresville on this one, Kevin. :block:

LOL....sorry, i dont kiss anybodys tail....ANYBODY's. You call it what you want, but ill call it being polite and respectfull. I totally have respect for my fellow driver, as long as they look at me the same....not just because of the name on the side of my truck. Funny...how i run up on drivers and then when i try to pass them, they step on it because their ego gets in the way of their driving ability. Heaven for bid they get passed by a swift driver.

And who said i never help out a driver. The other day i was sitting at a shipper, just got loaded, and had two drivers asking me for locations of the nearest scale. One was a new-newbie, first day out...no CB...no "Fuel Finder" book to locate truck stops...etc. Another had only been driving for 3 months. I helped them out with finding a route around a weigh station, or to find the nearest CAT scale. Big different offering directions (for whatever reason) when sitting still at a shipper or drop and compared to asking directions when you're rolling becuase you the driver were too lazy to make a few phone calls to get the right phone number for a shipper, or to call the shipper that happens to have the right phone number. Why drivers dont want to slow down and stop at a rest area or truck stop and then call for directions?? Gee...how safe is THAT.....driving down the road....talking on the cell, AND writing down directions, all while trying to stay between the ditches. Don't know exactly where you're going.....then YOU are the one asking for it.....

You have respect for your fellow drivers? So I guess that when you gave a guy the wrong directions to Proctor and Gamble you did so because he disrespected you first? Then I guess he had it coming. We just had a Swift driver pull up in front of our terminal yesterday. It seems his technology (GPS) had him turn on the wrong street while trying to get to a tire shop. I pointed to the place (you can see it from our terminal) and told him how to get there. Name on the truck has nothing to do with it at all.
How upset would you be, if you were on a bus, and the driver didnt know exactly where the next terminal was.....then risked the lives of those in the bus and around it, chatting on a cell phone being distracted writing directions down going 80mph, when you JUST made a food/rest stop 10 min. ago?? would it not be prudent to get directions when stopped?? you can have respect for someone or their profession, and still have the right to not have to babysit. i'll offer my help when someonoe asks about a coop being open, or the next truck stop or rest area....i'll give smokey reports, but thats the extent of it. Ill offer my help with directions to a place if i've been there before, hell ill help plan your trip for the next week if you know where you're going.......sitting at a truck stop or rest area or a wal-mart. why is that a big problem to read and understand that. i'm not against offering my help with directions.....i'm against helping a driver who was too lazy to plan his/her route all the way to the final. and 'not having the right phone number', is nothing but a poor excuse for doing your job.

Kevin,
It's awfully hypocritical of you to post things that you know are going to entice people into arguing with you (such as claiming that you purposely give incorrect directions when someone asks for directions on the CB), then sit and report everyone's posts over and over once those people actually do start arguing with you. If you can't deal with people taking issue with the controversial things you say, then perhaps your best bet would be to simply not say them in the first place.

That being said, I'd appreciate it if everyone would stop taking Kevin's bait. Thanks.

Kev I dont think Swift is the problem here. You could be driving for the best out there and you would still be annoying. You remind me of a SNL skit called Geek, Dweeb or Spaz. I'm going with Spaz.
