Contact the agency that took the accident report and ask for a copy of it. It will state in the report any actions they intend to take. Also, call and ask the agency what if anthing they plan on doing.
At any rate, you need a copy of the report so that your husband can submit it if asked for it.

You guys are sooo right!
Well, you guys do know what your talking about, that's for sure. My husband was fired after several weeks of being stalled while they "investigated" the accident. No explanation, he never got to speak to anyone. Just "we won't be using you anymore". I'm sure they had their minds made up the moment the accident happened. Can't say that I blame them. It cost them too much. He will be moving on, and hopefully things will work out for the best. It's a sad situation, and I hope that no one has to go through the trauma of wrecking a company truck, losing a load and then losing their job. He's applying for jobs now and hoping someone gives him a chance to redeem himself!

Where it comes to an accident(s) most companies don't know what the outcome will be for several weeks. It all comes down to what the insurance company finds after they have investigated the an accident(s). Again in most cases the police report takes several days before the insurance can get a complete accident report. Then it takes a written request by the insurance company before the police will mail the final accident report. After the insurance company receives the final accident report depending what the report says they may want to get additional information from the other driver and any witnesses that may be listed. After the insurance company have collected all the information it is then reviewed. Only then will the insurance company contact the company and make their recommendation. Then in most cases the safety department will review the recommendation by the insurance company. Added to this the safety department will review the driver's file and discuss this with the driver's manager and make a recommendation to human resource department. Then human resource determines the the final outcome. So as you can see this can take several weeks before the drivers finds out the results. Now as to him getting another driving job. Putting it simply it isn't going to be easy. If I recall he hasn't been driving that long. Which makes it a lot harder for a company to get him approved by the insurance company. Lets face it the insurance companies is the "bad guys" they in essence control the hiring of new drivers. Many of the self insurance company will take a driver where the insurance companies will not. Anyway best of luck to him. kc0iv

1) It was apparently, an "accident." Not a druggie, or even a BBR!! God forbid.... YOUR day is coming if you aren't LUCKY enough!! And when it does, the insurance company will throw YOU to the curb as well! [yeah, I KNOW it was "preventable" but ONLY if you know something about the roads you are travelling on, and other things they don't TEACH new drivers these days!] 2) You don't know what you are talking about! MY company hired an ex-Swifty who had a rollover within the first 2 months of being "released" to go Solo! There are other companies like mine, and there are MANY drivers who don't receive the training they SHOULD get before being "used" as a solo driver! 3) No, it's not the BEST company to work for, paywise.... but I make more than MANY of you.... and I HAVE a job! Those of you who "MAY" ONLY know about the "big carriers" and their policies don't know ENOUGH to be giving advice to anyone! 4) People come to THIS site for advice! It's not always what they want to hear, but it should be accurate and CONSTRUCTIVE! If you want to play BBR with an attitude.... go somewhere ELSE! 5) I'm not for "coddling" anyone!! You KNOW my opinion on "wusses" trying to drive trucks! But, I have NO MORE patience for BBR's who have nothing to contribute better than "CB" chit!! SAVE it for the ROAD, driver! And just hope you make it to the truckstop in time to "play it".... as I've seen MANY of you who spent your night in the DITCH! Show some compassion here! This is the WIFE of a driver! She has enough to worry about with him on the road, and even MORE now! SHE has shown more guts coming on here to ask US what to expect, and what to do, than YOU have shown in ANY of your posts! I don't have a wife to CARE about what happens to me..... but if I DID.... I'd LIKE to think she could come on here and get some ADVICE.... and NOT have to put up with YOUR BBR B.S.!!! You got some smart azz remarks? Try 'em on ME!! I got enough to deal with the likes of YOU! Leave this LADY alone! YOU'VE got no intelligent info for HER! (or anyone ELSE for that matter!) Tu Sabe Amigo??

You know if they didn't ask for a urine sample then you don't need to give them one. Don't worry they ask if they want one.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as your husband.
Had a rollover with only 14months of experience under my belt, and most companies treat you like you have the plague. I would say do like I'm doing right now. Call around and speak with every carrier you could find, OTR or local. Ask what their policies are in regards to accidents of this caliber. After that, find out if there is some sort of "gap" period required before you could apply and hopefully, be hired. Myself, I already spoke with a few, companies. One local, and the other being the company that originally got me my license. The OTR company told me to reapply after the first anniversary of the accident, most likely so they could get their money's worth out of me. The local one simply told me to come back in June when I turn 25(yes, youngster, but I act more like an crotchety old-guy). So, aside from what your husband is already trying, he should give this method a shot if he hasn't already. As for the naysayers that are telling you the same things I've probably heard, try to ignore them and make getting back into driving you and your husbands way of telling them to "take a flying leap". Anywho, good luck and good hunting to the both of us, respectively.

Taking a drug test was not required. Test are required when there is a fatility, injury requiring a trip to the hospital or one of the vehicles has to be towed. Since this was a single vehicle accident the tow away rule does not apply.
Now, here is a guy that can't drive in a straight line without running off onto the shoulder and FLIPPING A BIG TRUCK and you guys think that the McDonalds comment is out of line ??? This guy needs to find something else to do other than drive for living. Next time he might kill someone.

Anyone know of someone who hires in Florida who will hire a 9 month otr driver with one preventable on his record?
Also what about DAC? How does this go on his record if there was no ticket issued? p.s. Now I'm worried they could mail a ticket!! How long would that be if the accident was over 30 days ago?
