Plus, he says when you stay over there for more than a year, $80'000 of that money is tax-free.

Well what about truckdriving? Would you need lots of experience to get hired to drive over there? (Or to BE ABLE to drive over there for that matter)? Would it be a hard job, and would it pay pretty good as well? (Someone told me truckdriving is about the most dangerous job you could have over there)

(Note: This is going to Iraq/Afghanistan as a CIVILIAN, not being in the military, where you wont' get payed much at all)
Umm... not to discourage or scare you, but have you ever seen those beheading videos? I have those actual videos and they are indeed real. I assume if you go there, work and get out alive, it will be worth it. The thing is you just don't know, that is the most dangerous place in the world for a US civilian. I know the money is certainly tempting.

I always thought most of those guys who were held hostage and killed by the terrorists were mercenaries, such as Blackwater, not truck drivers.

Or were they? I don't know, haven't seen anything conclusive on that...

I understand what he is saying. Blackwater employees have been killed in Iraq. Remember the four that were killed then hung from the bridge. One of them was the youngest SEAL, he had some fitness videos out also. I remember one news story about a truck driver that was taken by terrorist and later released. Then there are soldiers and newsmen who are captured. All in all if you are out of the Green Zone it can be life threatening.

Sorry about that, I should have been more clear.

I was told that most of the contractors that have been hurt or killed were actively seeking out and engaging the insurgents, not simply driving trucks. Various security contractors, such as Blackwater, I was told are involved with things like that, thus they are a high priority for the insurgents.

Whether or not that's true, i just don't know. I'm in Afghanistan, not Iraq, and I simply don't know too much about it. I just mentioned what I heard.

KBR has alot more casualties than Blackwater. Reason being is that we hauled all of the Fuel to all the Bases in Iraq and the Terrorists knew that if they stopped Us they stopped the Military. Pretty much everything ran on JP8 but we also hauled some Gasoline.

KBR has around 450 Killed and around 3,000 Wounded

There is an article in todays New York Times about the lawsuit against KBR (Haliburton) for dispatching a fuel convoy into a known hostile area.
