Uncurable Jock Itch (grossout warning)
#41
(Graphic, lurid content warning) Wow, lots of replies! Thanks! Thanks for the specific suggestions, too. And the humor! I'm just checking in. Been busy driving, etc. Yeah, it might be the detergent, and I think I only have one rinse cycle on my washer. I'll check it out. What I just noticed this morning is that after I take a leak, I need to massage the urethra area to get the last drops out, and to do this I have to push against the scrotum skin. I have my fingers on the outside of my underwear, to keep any carcinogenic compounds from the truck on my underwear instead of on my scrotum, so of course as I am massaging, through the underwear, I am pressing the underwear against my scrotum repeatedly, rubbing all that leftover detergent into the scrotal skin ! And I've noticed that my clothes, especially my cotton t shirts and underpants, reek of detergent for days after I take them out of the drier. I use an extrastrength econo brand.
It's been about 3 weeks since I used up all of the prescription strength Nystatin cream, and the redness and itchiness is actually less than usual . Maybe there is hope. ZW What you might try is running your clothes through the washer a second time. The first time with normal detergent. The second time with plain water and no detergent. That would give you much better rinse to get all the detergent out. If that improves the situation, you should be on the right track.

Women generally don't get jock itch. But you definitely 100% have a fungal problem. She may have it a bit between her toes. Generally anything applied won't work when the fungus is in a nail. It needs to be cured with medication.

I was recently at a foot Dr. He said Lamisil in pill form is bad for your liver. He said the only way is to laser the fungus.
When I used at live at the beach it went away with sand and ocean water. BTW...I read an article that most people use way too much detergent in the laundry. The Chinese claim you don't even need any soap and just the agitation will work. Last edited by Bigmon; 04-30-2012 at 01:25 PM.

I'm a fungi.
If the home remedies are not helping, then it's time to see the doc and have him run your blood through the lab. That can find or rule out some things, and if necessary you'll get a referral to a dermatologist. It may take several visits, but I think you need to start some tests. Reason I say the doc might run your blood, is some internal functions can cause you a rash like this. A dermatologist can take some s-c-r-a-p-e-s and figure it out... plus you might get a complimentary cheese grader, or a backscratcher. scratch-scratch-scratch dig-dig-dig-dig-dig-dig-dig-dig-dig-dig .........snif-snif

Must be a 'new guy".. Roadhog has been "hangin' ten" over the edge of a cliff, and leaning into the wind at a 45 for the last five years that I know of... But, if the wind stops, and he falls, there isn't anyone here that can take his place.

Alan5oh,
Update? OK......... it's still there. The rash, and the scrotum, too. Hasn't rotted off yet! It stays pretty much unnoticeable if I keep it clean and shower it once in a while. I have to admit, if I haven't already, that I only have one shower a week, since I drive drop and hook, have a/c and I just don't get sweaty very much. Saves hot water!! and money. But, I DID start showering and soaping up the scrotum every day for a while, and it didn't help at all, so.................. I'm back to the weekends only moneysaving shower routine. And no, I don't have an odor. I haven't tried anything new on it. Except using different detergent. I put my underwear in the microwave on high for 1 minute a few times. Can't tell if it helped. I always use the blow drier on the scrotbag to dry it after I shower. Still scratch the heck out of it before bedtime, occasionally, since that is the only time it itches, right after I take off my pants and the air sneaks in around the underwear and onto it. Feels soooo great to scratch it (as Roadhog knows). |
