Most carriers and insurance companies will pull a 3 year mvr. However, some states have longer periods that they can pull your mvr should they choose. For instance, I believe Georgia will allow you to pull a 3, 5 or 7 year mvr.

Unless the limited POA states that it gives the school the right to surrender your CDL for non-payment then screw them. If you did sign something like that then shame on you. We all make mistakes but giving someone else power over your way to make a living is kinda dumb. I'm sure that any halfway decent attorney can get that POA revoked and I would do it very quickly.

If you give someone a power of attorney then you can revoke it at any time. All you need to do is sent them a certified letter stating that you have revoked their power of attorney. I would not give anyone a power of attorney unless it was to represent me in certain situations, such as a CPA or attorney to discuss tax matters with the IRS, title work for purchased property, or for certain other special circumstance situations and that would only be for a specific purpose and time frame.

From what I've been told, Alabama's MVR's only go back 5 yrs. Unless its a DUI, that's a 10 yr.
But on the subject of POA, I called the school and they said that they can do it, but never have. It's mainly a scare tactic. |
