What is a real Driver
What is a real Driver.....
Thats the one who doesn't cry about it when you hand him/her a load thats not the easiest. Thats the Driver, that when everyone else had said I had enough, "hitches up his or her pants and says Giveme the load" A Driver, knows if that Truck isn't working, they ain't making no money....hence they will bring her in running. A Driver is someone, that doesn't care what kind of Truck it is...just that it can handle the Freight. And that same Driver is the one that makes sure the truck is clean / everything is in it's place and secured / checks oil / Tires /lights To the real Truck Driver, it isn't just a paycheck / it is a reflection of his or her Pride!!!!!! NOW THAT IS A REAL TRUCK DRIVER

A real driver is one who drives 1000 miles and gets paid for 900.
Breaks federal law by falsifying entries in the logbook. Sits around for no pay in nasty truckstops away from home. Knowingly operates unsafe or illegal equipment. Lives out of a sardine can for .38-.42 cpm. Gets jerked around by shippers and receivers. Works nights, weekends, and holidays. No friends, no social life, no hanky-panky with the old lady. Just drive sleep drive sleep drives sleep drive sleep. Thank heavens I left that horrible business. Last edited by Mike Hunt; 12-12-2008 at 03:02 AM.

A real driver knows how to get the job done. He doesn't whine and constantly complain but finds a way to make things better. He takes care of his equipment and takes pride in his ride and his profession. He doesn't pay much attention to those who try to find fault in him and his profession. He knows it is only because they are jealous or couldn't cut it themselves so they put him and other drivers down so that people don't take such a close look at him. A real driver is an individualist. He enjoys his own company and knows that he must do what he must to make the home fires warm. He is the modern day cowboy riding the open asphalt range.

That kinda sounds alot like what i have been saying since I've started here. Yeah, my truck is a POS, and yeah, i would like to be running 2500-3000mi a week, but i'll take that crappy 88 mile load, yeah my comfort zone is the 910, but ill take that load to Amsterdam, NY. yeah my truck is a POS, but i clean the inside daily because i dont want to live in filth. I might not get the chance to take a shower everyday, but i atleast care enough about myself and respect others around me to not force them to 'smell' me by not taking care of myself.
a 'real' driver isnt someone who can drive 75mph in the snow, or take that 45mph curve at 65 without hitting the brakes. A 'real' driver dont have more air time on the radio than Howard Stern, or can float gears up, down and sideways. put that in your pipe...... lol

Real truck drivers don't have Quaal Coms or governors on their rigs....
and they have seen Vanishing Point at least 100 times. Stopping briefly at a shipper or receiver is all the sleep they need. ..with them...its not about the money Last edited by zipy46; 12-12-2008 at 07:56 PM.

LOL....i'd like for those 'real drivers' to be allowed to not worry about the 70/8 rule, and then keep tabs on how many end up in jail, like Alvin Wilkerson because they fall asleep at the wheel. How can it NOT be about money, when those kids of drivers, i.e. the ones who have to cook their log book because they want to stay running, they do it because they dont want to sit? It can't be just because they love to travel and love the scenery. it is because they have child support, allimony or the wife/home needs a paycheck. All but 3% of the drivers out here are out here because they want to earn a good paycheck. lol...dont tell me 'it isnt about money'.
