After the board change, I came back with a different screen name. Almost immediately, I had more than a dozen people welcoming me back. (really felt good) In the past, I have posted advice for driving in bad weather, and have had little to no comments to the negative about any of them. It's been, virtually, the same practices that have kept me out of trouble for years, even when I have had a very light load, or empty trailer behind me, and I lost count of how many trucks and cars were off the road in a 30 mile stretch. (that has happened more than once. Tx, SD, NJ, and NC, just to name a couple of states for that.) Yet, I've gotten to my destination ON TIME, without so much as a rub mark on my rig. Even our Canadian friends up north, have very little criticisim for my information, and generally only add their own to it.

Yet, Kevin0 seems to have a mental block, or something. Most often, it looks like he's trying to pick a fight, rather than learn about what he's supposed to do to survive it. If he puts on a legitimate post, I will do my best to answer it. When he starts to act like he's about to run to Momma and cry in her apron, I stop. If he wants to be a spoiled brat, he can pick a fight with me. Go on outside and get ready, and if I'm not there in ten minutes, he cans start without me. I learned a very long time ago, "YOU JUST CAN'T FIX STUPID".

Hehehe...Kevin could move to Puerto Rico or Hawaii and be driver, and never have to worry about snow again!!

Yeah, but they pay a heavy toll to get from one island to another! They have built in pontoons, and they come with oars!

dobry4u --

Yes, there are semis in Hawaii, but, if I recall (I could be wrong), no log books and few sleeper cabs. I mean, you're on islands -- how far from home can you go? :-) I think most of the work is container spotting for hourly pay.

Safe trip.

Kelly...I have been over there..numerous times in days gone by, and yes...they have semis over there. Mostly as has been noted, Can haulers, but they also have Reefers and the odd flatbed. On the smaller islands, straight trucks are used, except for the "Cans".

Back in the day.....circa 1979-1987...the company I worked for would ship the trucks and trailers we would need for a job, over on "Containerized flatbeds", then we would arrive a week before the job was to start, to get the equipment prepped after the journey. Worked it in reverse when the job was done.

Aaaaaaaaaah....The Hilton on the north shore of Oahu...the Marriott at Kaanapali Shores...the Sheraton at Hilo....what great sleeper-berths they made!!! Some days I wish I were still doing that work....then I look at the kids that are doing it now...and realize that they are the ones whom should be doing it!! I loved working the night shift then. I got by on 5 hours sleep quite well at the time. The "relief cooler" was a must back then!

I still plan on getting back over there in the next year or so. I haven't been to any of the Islands, for vacation, since 2000. Back in 95 I went tuna fishing with friends. We were out on the charter boat for 3 days and had a blast catching fish and just relaxing.
