Yesterday was sunday...if trucks were sitting in truckstops from south of Chicago to Green Bay...most likely it was because they were either waiting to load..or unload.......... TODAY.
But...since your the "new" barometer for winter driving, perhaps they were sitting in their bunks, curled up under the blankets, shivering from the thought of having to drive on snow packed highways, in windy conditions. I bobtailed from Evanston WY to Vernal UT one night in 1980. In an International Paystar 5000. It was snowing hard enough that it was tough to see...and the wind was blowing its typical 25 to 30 down the Flaming Gorge. Flaming Gorge isn't anything at all like I-94 between Chi-Town and Green Bay however.:zzz: :lol::lol:

Any time now Big Jeep will be along to tell you that the kitchen is where you should stay. And why are you wearing socks? You should also be barefoot.

You know what....i never have and never will look for anybody's 'approval'. i was making a point, to shut some of you (edited) up about driving in the winter. no (edited) i will have to take loads because i know it is 'part of the job'. how stupid do you think i am?
what some of you just love to do, is read things into posts or put words in other people's mouths. i've got a suprise for you....i dont give a **** about you or anybody on here....except one person. that is me....i am happy with who i drive for. i am happy with what i drive. i am happy with working my way up from the bottom. and i am happy with the level of training i have got in the 10 weeks since i started this little endeavour. the rest of you can just go **** yourself. because this board has become too 'high schoolish' for me. Stupid ****s getting a badge, and then getting an ego to go with it. why do some of you think you have to irritate people just to get a kick? just for cheap entertainment.....that says alot about you then.......cheap. grow ****ing up, and maybe someday you will understand you are over 30, and might start acting like it.

So, you'd like about 2 1/2 "ATTA BOY's"?
Scottt is right. The Santa Anna's blow it up to 120 mph. First time I've ever seen people tying down the palm trees. No, I don't want to take an empty trailer through that. A 53 loaded with 7,000 pounds of baby furniture was bad enough. Not sure I'd even want an empty flatbed. But, 30 mph in WI is not bad. They're generally not bad on keeping the roads open. If you're going to fly with one hand on the EJECT LEVER, you're going to find yourself bailed out of the business before long. You can not turn down many loads before they stop giving you loads and just leave you sit till you quit. You're asking now, "WHERE'S THE FREIGHT". Why? They're not giving you much of it anymore because you're going to turn it down anyhow? Why even bother offering it to you if you're only going to say "NO"? No wonder when someone says something less than flattering about Swift, you take it as a personal affront. There are two things the wind will do to your trailer that is a sure sign of trouble. One, you find your trailer going up on 4 wheels, with the other 4 off the road. or, two. Your trailer slides, either into the other lane, or onto the shoulder while you are driving. And, either one can happen in the middle of summer. It does not have to be winter. (The first ten minutes of rain, with a strong cross wind, on fresh blacktop can be as slick as wet ice.) so a freight company charges more to haul Company A's freight. you think Company A will just eat the cost? kinda like making a new tax just for oil companies who make billions in profit every quarter. you think they are going to pay it? no.....WE will. it will be passed down to the consumer. so whats the point of making a bigger paycheck, when the difference will be spent on those eggs and milk and whatever else you want to buy that got to the store on a truck......dont like your job, find a new one. I hear you can make $70k a year by being a pan handler. .... serious....look it up. The Straight Dope: How much money do beggars make? there ill save you the trouble. since this will be my last post because i know ill get banned....and i really dont give a ****.... <flipping the bird>.....thats for you Rev. (edited).......merry x-mas....hope your new years resolution is (edited) |
