Where's the freight?

Yeah, this thread got way off topic.
anyways, to help re-rail it (is that even a word?) I hear to stay out of GA and the east coast. I hear PHX/AZ is doing pretty good, etc. When i was upgraded to solo, my DM and i agreed i should be put on the 910 comfort zone. within a week i was given a load to central NY. I really didnt want to take it, and i eventually accepted the plan. I get a BEEP back, and says invalid trip #, so aparently it was removed from me. Now again, i sit for a day after dropping my last load at the Final, and thinking i really need to get OFF the 910. I really dont want to drive into LA or NY. And i really dont want to run into 6in of snow coming out of the Rockies. But with a new GPS ill be buying, taking a wrong turn wont be as bad anymore. And if i need to pull off when the roads get bad...well i guess i pull off. I am still waiting on hearing back about how exactly a driver gets their load. what is the process from when the shipper decides they've got stuff to move? phoenix doesn't have jackshit for freight. each time i come off of home time, i am deadheaded either to fontana, ca or salt lake shitty, ut. there's plenty going into phoenix, tempe, glendale, tolleson, chandler, gilbert, and scottsdale. most of it with swift is coming from mexico. there's a drop yard half a mile from the nogales, az truck crossing. the yard is also next to where la migra does their firearms training. it's nice trying to get some sleep down there with fully automatic ar-15's firing allllllllll night long. as far as georgia is concerned, there may be some local runs here, there, and there are some real good runs out of atlanta that'll take you more than 1900 miles. what you're hearing about phoenix and georgia are a bit off.

Big Diesel and Kevin: If you continue to hurl insults at each other on the open forum, you will both be dealt with accordingly. If you feel a need to continue attacking each other, do it via PM or another message board.
As far as:
i'll turn down a preplan if the load is headed to Minnesota, and i know they just got dumped with 6in of snow, and more is on the way. I'll turn down a load if it has me going thru tennessee, and they are under a severe wind advisory, with expected gusts to 60-70mph.
That is poor customer service, which leads to shippers not using a carrier.

again, with the double-standard, rev. i love it. i can get called an azz, but i cant twist his handle around using non cursing words...kinda like weird al. You must think Weird Al is the devil. hmmmmm...
but anyways, yeah i said i would turn down a load if it had me headed directly into an area where there was a travel advisory. deep down i would probably take it, get it as far as i could till i felt unsafe, then i would park it. But i was told i cannot accept a load knowing i was headed into bad weather, and then use a macro saying i'm going to be late because of weather. they'd rather i just decline it. say rev. are you the only mod? i think you are, because you are the ONLY one to take offense enough with posts to alter or remove them. hmm? Oh, and both those situations you quoted me on, you telling me that if a driver takes those loads, then pulls off and stops because of weather, or gets rolled in Tenn. be cause of that 70mph wind gust, you telling me that you wouldn't get knocked with a service failure by the company? I would rather get in trouble for refusing a load headed into dangerous conditions (such as a wind or winter advistory where the DOT says travel is not recomended) than to take a service failure because the load i did take was a day and a half late. agreed?
probably not, because you've gotta argue with just about everything i post.

The one thing I love about backseat moderators is that they don't last very long.

In an era when companies have backed off on hiring "steering-wheel-holders", you might be far better off not to take any offense at any criticism and listen to good advice. Stay on your present course, and we may hear from you again when it catches up with you. Then, the prospective employer asks the previous employer... "Would this driver be considered for re-hire?" and the answer comes back... "NO"... You're out of work. May I suggest that one of the best ways to protect your own future might be an attitude adjustment?

Although, you claim to be able to turn this on and off "at will" so that it does not have an effect on the relationship with the customer, it is very likely that someone else does not see that much of a difference in you. You may be successful at toning it down, but not eliminating it. And, it certainly does affect how the customer sees you and their relationship with the company you work for. It's an attitude that has been known to lose business for a company, and has also been behind a company letting a driver go.

Right now the freight will generally be slow. With the economy being what it is doesn't help, but in general, the stores and warehouses are stocked up, not to mention inventory is right around the corner for most of them. so I'd say hang tight till the end of jan maybe early feb
