On the GPS thing, anyone tried the TomTom variety in the US ?, it is the most reliable on this side of the water.
Just wondering as IF I ever do take the plunge and move to Canada all I would need to buy would be the North American maps. P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread

Besides, the paper ones fall apart too quick!! And if they get wet... :x Actually, I have the standard laminated and the sort of not laminated large print edition.... and I have a separate Canadian atlas to boot. The large print edition doesn't have Canada in it... 8)

I'm cheap and picked up an '06 paper version for the clearance price of $3. USX installed the DriverTech system in my truck which has GPS, which I use most of the time. And I've got MicroSoft Streets and Trips on my laptop for additional referencing if I need it.

Look on eBay - I'm sure you'll find a 2006 version, which is the best version, IMO. What bad things have you heard? Are the people having problems complete computer n00bs? Do they have a P2 laptop with 64MB of RAM??

I got one at the 99 cents store yesterday for .99. If you strap it to your chest and back it also protects you incase of a stabbing.

I you consider yourself a professional driver you need the proper tools of your trade. Who cares what the cost is? Buy the laminated versions. Buy both the Deluxe version and the Large Scale version. You need the normal sized map to see the big picture and the large scale for detail for older tired eyes. It is tax deductible, so don't be cheap. If you can afford GPS get that also.
