I know a few guys here in SoCal that make in the neighborhood of those figures running flats. Usually home every night, sometimes has to lay over, off weekends. There are some sweet deals out there but they are few and far between. These are often in-house haulers who have a nice thing going with the freight allowance. I wouldn't expect a broker to be able to pay that kind of money, but if he's a material broker and not a freight broker, it's certainly plausible. I'd certainly talk to the guy some more. Those deals are out there, you may have just stumbled on one. Worth checking out anyway.

$6,000 to go from LA to Ottawa (2800 miles) in only $2.14 a mile. Seems possible. We get that (or close) for pulling equipment out of the northeast into Ontario. Even more believable if it's going into Northern Ontario. The hardest part for me to belive is the drywall and lumber part.

The other question is what is the rate going back to LA from Ontario? He could be grossing 240K a year and not making much depending on his rate back to LA.

I watched this conversation for awhile. One thing y'alls seem to be forgeting is that gross reciepts don't mean squat. It's the net earnings that really count, and how hard/long you had to work to get those net earnings.

If the other guy worked his tail off for $200k gross, and net earnings were $50k, while you only grossed $100k, but netted $50k, then who's the winner in this game? (the one who worked the least?)

Might want to look at that before you make the plunge.

He's not talking about Ontario, Canada. Ontario is 50 miles east of Los Angeles. Loads are originating in the LA basin going to Phoenix and Vegas. This is a typical regional setup for alot of manufacturers in this area. Of course if the construction in AZ and/or Vegas slows down you could find yourself without freight...still, worth checking into. I might be jumping over to flatbed to do the same type of deal.

240k to run from Ontario to phoenix or Vegas seems to be a bit high for the short haul and hauling building materials-kinda makes you say hmmmmm but if he's getting that much Salute.

Dejanh, whats a matter, can't come up with nothing on your own so you double post? You and mrpersons did to read everything and not what you want to and leave out the key words okay.

I guess if he wanted to work hard enough he could. I will do a little over $198,000 this year and did not work that hard. FYI, use Spell Check.
