I know the cb shop next to the Petro in West Memphis, AR sells a lot of different stuff. It seems like one time he was talking (advertising) on the cb he said he sold sat. tv units or something like that. But I may be wrong. And I don't know how good his prices are.

Its certainly cheaper to just go with a regular satellite but you have to set it up every time you stop (and store it somewhere when you're rolling).

you can get the best deal on a antenna at http://www.kingdom2.com/rv.html
You can install it yourself just a few screws and one wire to the antenna. You cannot get local channels on a mobile unit, but you can get the network channels from https://www.mydistantnetworks.com/ you get a west coast and east coast feed of the 4 major networks.

this is the set up i did on the truck. now remember that we are company deivers and can't hard mount anything or drill any holes. so this is how i set it up
first the parts this is from iowa 80 $60 now for the install it took just under 45 min to set it up on the truck and about the same to run the wires into the cab and setup the dish network dvr. we had the dish and dvr box (left over from upgrading the house to HD) it cost $134 to set everything up on the truck. it takes about 7 min from when i get out of the truck to get it setup and locked onto the sat's nice thing about having the dvr box is we can record things when we are sleeping for later. also our dish has heads (it's made for a 2 tv setup) so we can record 1 or 2 shows at the same time..!

Looks like a good setup there.
We did our first one with pvc pipe. That was a mistake. It was actually really funny- we got the whole thing set up and then put the dish on the pole and it was just swaying in the wind. Man, did we feel stupid... lol.

When you buy one of those units who do you call to get a subscription? Anyone? Can I setup with my local company and have the local channels I do at home?
You can't get your local channels without the receive being hooked to a phone line, you can get the network feeds from 2 time zones, eastern and Pacific and they want proof you have a truck or motor home. You can use your home account if you have one and just pay $5 for a second recieve, but you can't get your local channels The best part is you get all the channels where ever you park, as much as you run north you need the taller dome antenna.
