I spend about $35/month on one and $25/month on the other. Internettruckstop will discount the bill by $10 if you pay on time. If you pay late then it will cost $35/month for each of these load boards. I think it is worth it, especially starting out. There are some big brokers you can work with on an exclusive basis, but it can sometimes be difficult to only deal with one broker. Landstar has a couple of large agents in Southern California. You could pretty much run for them exclusively under your own authority, but I would not want to be that dependent on any broker. C H Robinson is another large broker you could probably work with on a regular basis. They also have freight coming out of Southern California. If you want to run intrastate, you can do fairly well running up and down I-5. I don't use the load boards much right now, but if I happen to get into an area where I am stuck, it is a good way to find a load.

 

Musta done something wrong. DAT Connect is currently showing that 456 dry van loads originating within 50 miles of Chino were posted within the last 24 hours. Some of those will be duplicates.

Ummm isnt that $125.00 a month...ouch, but if I get a lot of good loads worth it I quess...hmmm or is the extra $100 a one time start up fee?

Say just one more thing, a lot of these brokers I am calling sound like a fairly big and structured organization.....hmmm does this mean a better chance they wont screw me by never paying?....dont mind late as much as the thought of NEVER collecting ;-p

Pepe, I spend $60/month for both load boards. I pay $35/month for getloaded and $25/month for Internettruckstop. There are others that I can access and use at no charge.

 

I only fax over the broker-carrier agreement, a little information sheet and the dispatch sheet (if you are going to haul the load). And as far as the structure of brokerages go...I am a smaller broker, but I am very structued and systematic about my loads, and I still try to pay quick. In the broker world all you have is your intergrity and how quick you pay :P

 

If we could find good paying freight intrastate in FL....We would move the boat to FL and NEVER look back!!

The major part of some of these broker contracts is that they don't want to take a chance you will go back and solicit their customer. I can appreciate that, but if the broker is doing a good job, the carrier will not be as likely to get a foot in the door.

There are a couple of brokers for whom I haul and have never seen anything other than a basic haul agreement. It basically has the rate, pickup and delivery information. I would never go back to their shippers and solicit their business as long as they continue to do business in an ethical manner. It is something that neither of us has ever discussed.

 

Yeah i find the whole broker idea kinda of confusing??
