You know its funny Mike...I hear over n over here that no one can make it with a company lease truck.
Still I look out at feul islands, and see row of row of company lease trucks, they sure find a lot of people.....hey Im not disputing you...dunno, when I spent my years at USX I never considered leasing (even though they pushed it oneme) cuz I was happier training and couldnt there as an 0/0p. Its funny ....was over at the TA ontario just a few weeks ago....walked over to some USX trucks to try to relive old times, they were all lease O/ops ...n when I said something negative about USX they were ready to drive a stake thru my heart n whiip out their crosses.....leasing with USX they seemed to consider was the best thing or move a driver could do? So how does old mad Max or old man Swifty brain wash these people if it isnt?...hmmm someone must make $ doing it Id quess cuz their sure are a lot of pigeons if not?

I think there are PLENTY of people leased onto these carriers that are making it just fine. This forum only represents a small fraction of 1% of the drivers out there and a handful of people on here have brain washed everyone into thinking your stupid to lease onto anyone.
If you believe everything you hear on this forum then every lease operator would be out of business and that's not the case. Just pure logic from my point of view.

They only person I know personally who did the lease thing ended up working for free for about 3 weeks. Every single thing they said about JB Hunt Lease came true. Although he was making it for the first few weeks, the deck is certainly stacked against you.
I should clarify that when I say lease I don't mean those that own their own truck and lease it to the company. You don't hear much about those guys. Actually lately I've been seeing some pretty nice trucks leased on to Swift.

Yeah I meant getting their lease trucks as opposed to leasing my own truck their...they had all new shiny red Freightliners with those great auto-shifts they think are so great -lol
Hmmm for people that cant make it they sure get a lot of people to do it...n I wouldnt try to say anything negative to them cuz they will stake you. lol

Can you list some specific details and references to the fact that you can't make it with a lease purchase? Not something you made up. Your data is liken to "My dog doesn't have a tail therefore, no dogs have tails" I know one person who is on his second lease purchase. He paid off his first one and got a new truck and he's doing fine. If it didn't work then there wouldn't be ANY lease purchase operators within 1 month on the road and that's not the case. Once again, logic.

my guess would be 10% and most of those are just making drivers wages if they are lucky.

Once again, logic. Or are they single, no possessions, and using mom and dads address while living in the truck? It's important to get the whole picture of each individuals situation before you can say they're "making it." Or believe them when they tell you they are "making it." My next door neighbor likes to tell me how to make "big" money in construction. He does the same trade I do, works for someone else, had his own business for a very short time, lives with his mom, drove her car to work for a long time, and seems to job hop a lot, all the while telling me how good he is. I don't listen to him, needless to say. But if you didn't know his whole situation, you'd think he was doing well. I've looked at lease purchase numbers, they don't add up. Just looking at the payment for the truck is enough to tell me it's a scam. The guys doing it are effecting everyone else's standard of living in the industry. |
