Thanks Golf and Diesel for the info but I see pro's and con's with both solutions. Have either of you taken into consideration detention time waiting for transportation. Dead head walking and actual walking distance? It may be cheaper to walk the extra distance but the wear and tear on knees must be taken into consideration. Have you checked the weather report? This trip may require a tarp/umbrella depending on the route and exposure. What about fuel/food stops along the route? I may run low and require a burrito. Food stops may be far and few between so paying a premium for the service may dictate taking the longer miles but faster route.
These are all factors that must be taken into consideration when planning a trip. Actually I'm going to have to wait and see if I get a load and when it leaves before I can go to the movies. This sort of sucks posting my truck for today. Many times they want you to move in a moments notice so unless I can arrange for a load tomorrow I'll be stuck here for the day waiting.

I sure hope that bumper replacement is a simple and quick job. What I thought was a simple and quick job on a vehicle turned into a complicated mess, have to take this part or that part off just to get to the part you need to replace. Then the jobs I think would take along time and be a pain in the ass turn out to be a quick and simple job, go figure! :P I'm surprise the secret service didn't point guns at ya and give you a full interigation. :P

Ha ha ha, I'm laughing right now. I've been there many times in the past for sure.
I put a new bumper on my truck before so I know what I'm in for and it was really simple. Push out all the lights, undo the 2 support rods underneath then the 4 bolts on the font and that's it. I did it myself the last time at home but I have plenty of wood to make a platform when taking the old one off and putting the new one on. I'm sure I can find a few large women to help me out.

Atleast you know what your getting yourself into thats for sure. When I work on a car most people are curious as to how I can get into tight places and get the job done quickly that would take while. Whats funny is they like to joke around cause I'm short and skinny but yet I'm the first person they call when they need their vehicle worked on.
D.C. is the last place I'd want to get lost in especially after 9/11.

Yea, I'm surprised they all treated me so nice with a big truck, fully loaded and tarped in front of the White House. I could have had one of those Naked Bombs (How many remember that one!!!! lol )

Well Double, you were right. The bumper came off and went on real easy. Then, I tried to get the 4 bolts off holding my license plate. 3 guys and all sorts of tools and finally got it off 2 hours later. I didn't want to wreck my custom NH plate and the screw heads were recessed and no way to get a hacksaw on the other side to saw off the bolts. I used lock tight and you couldn't hold a screw driver on the screw side!!! What a pain!!!
I got the new bumper on and am paying the price now. Just took 4 ibuprofen. I thought for sure BigDiesel was going to show up and help me lift that monster into place. Anyways, everything back to normal and looks nice. It's getting interesting here in Portland with loads and trucks. There are 424 loads available and 32 trucks within a 100 mile radius. Tons of lumber going everywhere for $1.50 per mile and 48,000 pounds. My phone has been ringing non stop. I've been telling everyone $2.00 per mile and they all drop dead over the phone. Tomorrow will be interesting for sure. Most will call back and be pissed if I don't take their load. One guy called up and offered $1.50 and I said at least $2.00 per mile. He then starts to go into his pitch with a wise ass attitude. So, how long you been sitting there already? So, I just hang up on him. He calls back right away and says I'm an A-Hole and was going to offer $2.50 per mile. I hang up on him again without saying a word. He calls again and I answer and hang up before he talks!!! It was fun. Lots of loads heading back to my home town also which is unusual. The brokers must have an orgasm when they see I'm from that town. They think they can offer anything and I'll take it to go home. 1 hour just went by. Well, I got a load at $2.00 per mile going back to my home town. I have to have dunage which I don't have so looks like a trip to Home Depot before I pick up. I can't believe a lumber mill can't supply 2x4's. I have another leak today!!! Looks like it's coming out of the water pump but not sure exactly where. It's just a drip and only happens when the engine is stone cold???? I have a feeling putting in the new radiator just set it off and was ready to leak soon. It's not bad and will wait until I get home to have it fixed. Just another thing to fix in the day of a Hobby Trucker. I tell ya. It's non stop fixing little things also!!! My Rigmaster sounded funny and the bolts holding down one of the covers were loose. I had a rubber bumper light housing that was broken. Tail light on tractor out although it was just the connector that came off. They are LED's so they should not fail all at once. Tie wraps came off CB cable outside on the side mirror. Front brake hose clamp broken. Radiator hose clamp broken. I really don't mind all this stuff and it's part of the job. I actually enjoy fixing the stuff I can. The water pump leak is not something I will attempt. I am going to have to do something with my head liner. I don't like how it looks now that I took some of it down. It's one of those deals where it was fine until I touched it. Now it won't sit right and the previous owner smoked with the windows up and you can now see the stains. My headliner is made up of 4 sections and they are curved. It looks like they are made out of fiberglass with like a velor covering. Is this something I just take down myself and bring to an upholstery shop or do I bring the truck there and let them have at it? It's held up by Velcro. Doghouse?
