A day in the life of a hobby trucker

If I were a gambling man, I'd say the Bandit will be loading a tradeshow out of Denver on Sunday that pays enough to justify deadheading out of Chicago for

Hey Tootie, I was hiking Devils Canyon  today in Fruita Co. and I thought of you. There was a woman with two minpins on the dog section. I wondered how you guys were doing?

Yup, got your email, thanks. I have half my truck filled but I'm sort of holding out for this one particular load and may wait for the rest of the day to see if it comes in. The loads I have on right now are all going to Vermont and the one I'm waiting for also goes to Vermont and in total will be over $3.00 per mile for the whole trip including dead and dead head to home after. I just got done loading my second one and tarping it. Odd shaped piece too!

So, right now I have $2.00 per mile going to Vermont. I picked up another load going to Illinois and I'm sure I'll get more from there as it's a good area but if I were to do nothing at all from this point on, I'm at $2.00.
I still have 15' of deck left so the question is, do I sit for the rest of the day and tomorrow in hopes of finding something else or do head out and try along the way. Ok, scratch that. I just got a call from a broker who had 2 loads and both along my way so that's 4 LTL loads on this trip and probably going to be the best I've ever done on a partial load. I also got a call from the manufacturer of those utility trailers I hauled before and has 300 loads going to Canada from Springfield VT. I'm done with Canada so if anyone wants to put in a quote, send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send you the info. And Geo. I'm in Anaheim at the moment and will probably be heading towards Simi Valley in an hour or so. I have a feeling today will be a long one.

I saw the LTL to IL but I figured you were already on it. I only have limited access to the load boards and I know you see all I see.
Keep those numbers I gave ya they may come in handy next trip out to the NW or CA. I also have a number for some GREAT paying pumpkin loads out of NM in OCT but I think you need a side kit BUT they may build the sides of your flat up. You would have to check on that. tootie

Ah F***. The other place just called back with that other good paying load to Vermont and will have an answer in an hour. I haven't got the rate agreement for the IL and KY load so I'm going to hold off and take the Vermont load instead if it comes through.
