Can you please explain for all the readers how the name on the door causes you to take 6 hours to drive 281 miles? Are the laws of physics different in your truck because you spent a couple hundred dollars on a piece of paperwork?

with more experience but I'm guessing he's close to me in numbers and what I've posted.
Somehow, I doubt that.

Steve, what makes it worth while then? I meam having your own authority? Ego? because you can't play well with others?

Just because right now I am not doing what you are doing doesn't mean I haven't dealt with the same type of operation before.........

I now how hard it is,and to me it isn't worth the extra hassle, when I was with Landstar it was the beginning of the internet side of things and I could never make it work to my satisfation and the fact that I hated Landstar and their praticies didn't help.

Now I feel great with a quick little call to my terminal manager everytime I am empty and he sends me on my way,I don't have to plan out my week and where to go and which areas are good and which are bad.

My numbers are very close to yours and when you take into consideration I have to do no IFTA no Cargo Ins and no DOT audits and get to fuel up at the cheapest place I can find with no regard of having to make up the difference in taxes later.

I can't understand why you would want to do the own authority thing for the numbers you are getting,I always thought that if you do the OA you need shippers and contacts and not run off the loads boards, you are a basically a glorified if not an unproductice O/O.

Brokers and loadboards are there to supplement ones business, not base it off of entirely......

I'm not trying to make a pitch to anyone to get them their own authority and on there own. I'm just posting my experiences.

But, when people sit back and tell me how great they could do it without ever actually doing it, that's BS. Then there are others who say how great they are doing but I and others can attest that they are not telling the truth.

Then there are those that put themselves up on a pedestal by telling what I call "Half Truths".

I would never go to Maine for less then $4.00 per mile.

What they are saying is. I've never been to Maine and got $4.00 per mile. Heck, I've never been to Maine but I'll let people who read what I just wrote to believe I go to Maine all the time for $4.00.

It's easy for me to sift through the lies on here and the people who make statements that are left wide open to interpretation and of course, in their favor.

I find it funny how many people get upset at my posting my travels. I figure it must be jealousy. They just attack and attack trying to make it sound as bad as possible. Well, year 2 coming up and going strong!

I guess Gman didn't read that one either. Just another way he keeps his image like others, I'll just avoid that topic and sit in the corner.

That pendulum swings both ways, Steve. You claim that being leased to Landstar is in no way the same as running under your own authority, but since you've never leased to Landstar, your claim is BS. I and others can attest that many of your claims are not telling the truth. Your comparisons alone between short haul and long haul are proof of that.

Then there are those that put themselves up on a pedestal by telling what I call "Half Truths".

I see loads all the time going to Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, upstate NY paying between $3.80 - $4.50 per mile. I've been tempted to haul some of those loads, but they would take me out of my freight lane, so I don't do it. That doesn't mean the loads don't exist.

It's easy for me to sift through the lies on here and the people who make statements that are left wide open to interpretation and of course, in their favor.
You mean like your comparison between short haul and long haul? Claiming that running short haul would have you making $1300 per week vs. long haul making $3000 per week?

I find it funny how many people get upset at my posting my travels. I figure it must be jealousy. They just attack and attack trying to make it sound as bad as possible. Well, year 2 coming up and going strong!
Who has ever gotten upset at you posting about your travels? Hell - most people here have encouraged you to do it, myself included.

I can say with absolute honesty, however, that if getting my own authority meant running for $1.80-$1.90 per mile, then I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't want to take that kind of a pay cut to have my name on the door.
