Is that the best you can muster up? A couple of smilies? Or is it just that you can't dispute anything I'm saying.....

Oh, ok. Not bad, I thought it would be a lot more.
Mine is $5,700 for cargo, liability, collision, theft and all that other stuff. Truck is insured for $45,000 and trailer for $15,000

That's what I thought - you can only debate someone who can't debate you back.

What was that about bringing this board down again ??? Looks like to me it is #1 compared to the others..... But NotSteve was never very good with numbers anyways.....

Taking a poll:
If there were 2 identical trucks and one had 500,000 miles and the other had 400,000 miles, how much less would you expect to pay for the 500,000 miler? $10,000? $15,000? Steve, About the revenue vs profit margin question....I think in your example, you guessed you'd make more by doing 3,000 miles at $2, than 2,000 miles at $3 right? I'd like to take a closer look at that. So after 50 weeks you've done; a) 100,000 miles and grossed 300,000, or b) 150,000 miles and grossed 300,000 OK that's just silly. Let's try this instead LOL. Assuming we both burn $.80/mile in fuel. Me doing LTL from bumf$%^ nowhere into OH and TL back to Toronto: 1400 miles x 2.75/mile for all miles = $3850 - $1120 fuel = $2730 You running TL on the open road: 3000 miles x 1.85/mile for all miles = $5550 - $3150. You're $420 ahead of me in revenue after fuel.....with 1600 more miles on your truck. What do you figure maintenance costs....$.025/mile? That's $40. I'd be home on the weekend so that's $40 less in food. Assuming you agree to the above two estimates, you're now $340 ahead of me. So now we're down to depreciation and this is where we get back to those two identical trucks.

There are very few with their own authority on here and the rest are arm chair dispatchers that sit back and preach but have never been in my shoes actually doing it. There are plenty also that are doing what I'm doing but don't have the balls to post like I do. Why? Because they are doing the same as me! You initially came on this board seeking advice on how to get into this business. Several people were free with their advice and counsel. Some of us actually gave you step by step advice on how to get your authority. Now you want to tell everyone that you did it all by yourself. It is a slap in the face to anyone who offered you advice. I have no doubt that you have learned a lot the last couple of years, but you still have much to learn. One thing you should understand is that there are those on this board who are getting better and worse rates than you are getting. I would not assume that just because you are not getting higher rates, that others are not getting them. I can't speak for others, but I have no need to publish my numbers. I don't need my ego stroked nor do I need advice on how to run a successful trucking business. I have owned businesses for more than 4 decades. If I don't know by now, I never will. I don't mind sharing my experience or offering advice when asked. I think we all have an obligation to help others along the way. Some are receptive, others are not. In just two short years you seem to think that you have learned more than any of us who have been doing this for many more years. I am surprised that you still grace us with your omnipresence. I have never done anything against you, yet you continue to throw jabs at me. Just out of curiosity, do you always lash out at those who help you? |
