The last time we used 2 gallons of Prestone (last week) it cost $8500.
The reason you need to know the trailer spread is for the bridge law.
AFAIK, Lansdtar still requires 2-3 years as a carrier and 2,000,000 before they will sign you up but not sure.

I don't know what to tell you.

I don't know what these latest two pay, but I've posted my rates on here plenty of times and they weren't BS. If you called the telephone numbers I posted you would have realized that. I don't know why you keep calling BS. Just trying to start trouble I guess. Whatever, truck driver.

If you think someone is going to pay you $2.50 on 1500 miles for a dime a dozen flatbed you're dreaming. Maybe to Alaska or Edmonton but I suppose you want Miami.

If I knew were I could get something for nothing I wouldn't be posting it here good luck be safe.

Granted, I only did one wheel at a time,
Don't worry, I can only do one wheel at a time too on my P/up, I'm too busy holding the truck up with the other hand.

That's my point exactly. I've done the $3.00+ loads already within a 300 mile radius or so but I like the long hauls and I've averaging close to $1.60 on them and an average of $1.80 for all my loads. The impression I get from people in here is that I should be getting like $2.50 at least on everything I do and I don't believe it.

Yes, Miami would be fine thanks!!!

I hear you all and do take your advice weather you know it or not, even Rev's comments. Don't tell him though.

I just got my truck back and $1,400 poorer. The found a bunch of hoses that needed to be replaced and that's where I lost the fluid. I had them flush it also. The did the big PM on it, replaced my broken mirror, tightened the 5th wheel although they said that was it and next time it needs a rebuild. They tightened the oil pan and said it probably needs a new gasket some time in the near future. They also had to do a major rewire with new harness for the tractor rear lights. I hit something I guess that tore them all to crap. I spent 4 hours fixing them to limp along until I got home. They adjusted my clutch and that took a little while to get use to.

With regards to me moving. I don't see how any place is better than the other. There may be lots of freight going out of IN but once your out it doesn't matter anymore unless your doing day trips and going back home for another load. I picked Nebraska or Iowa so that at least I don't have the whole country to cross coming back home to NH from CA. Comments?

I think the next time I go out, not this time, I'll try and be on top of things instead of unloaded, going to a truck stop then looking for a load.

I'm going to miss my spicy roasted vegetables with salmon.

For once, i agree with you Steve!
As the matter of fact, living in the bad outbound freight area, usually means, that you have no problem, to find good paying load home.
And you are comfortably sitting home, while waiting for half decent load out!
So IMHO, the only valid reason to move, would be the cost of living!

If you recall, I said I thought your $1.60 for all miles on trip #1 was good.

I don't see how any driver can book good loads and drive. Making and taking 25+ calls a day and searching multiple websites and driving too....my head hurts. I've done it while driving and it's difficult to concentrate on the task at hand. I think I would wind up settling for whatever is available instead of working on 4 potential loads for next week.

You need a wife at home.

Sorry Rank, I was not singling you out. I do remember you said that. I guess I'm complaining in general that I think I'm doing ok and yes, I do need a wife at home then again I'm sure she would leave me pretty quick only being home once in a while!!! Someone suggested I get a college student to live here also and in return she could clean and take care of my personal affairs.

As long as your internet connection and cell phone is working, I don't see why not.

As an example, yesterday, I started working on a load (only 200 loaded miles, but the delivery is close to home and the P/U is only 20 miles out of route from our customer). This load was posted by several brokers...probably 5. The first guy I called said $475. I tried for more...no go so I turned it down. The next guy same thing. Now today....I called a different guy...$515. And a fourth guy...$535. So that's from $2.15 to $2.50 but it's like pulling teeth.

Also picked up a partial 20 miles away from the P/U for an additional $325. So $860 on about 250 miles total. No way you can do that and drive, IMO.

just because you can`t find them doesn`t mean other people can`t, I move alot of supplies for oil field companies and the trips are always under 350 miles but the rate is always over 2.25$ a mile, with good time management I can pull a round trip every day (leave unloaded and return to same field loaded getting paid all the way) theres still plenty of longer hauls paying around 2$ a mile as well.

and finally anybody who`d go to alaska for 2.50 a mile is crazy
