Yeah, so about Sirius spying on you and targeting you with specific marketing, got a question for Rev Vassago and some of you guys- if you listen to Harrison On The Edge a lot do you start to get a bunch of ads for Bed, Bath and Beyond or a bunch of proctologists or something?

Yeah, Steve, they do have a lot of ads about trucking companies on Sirius. I guess, they figured there are a lot of truckers that use Sirius.

The satalite transmits every single signal to our unit but we only tune in to the ones we want to listen to. It would be simple at the factory to program the unit as a truckstop unit and thereby only play trucking commercials. I would put money on this theory.
Sorry just my personal rant there, too much time listening to the Nascar channel....

We have a skyfi at home that we bought NOT at a truck stop and it has the same commercials. We have a Pioneer XM radio in the truck that we bought at Tweeter and had installed miles and miles from the nearest truck stop. Same commercials.
I'm thinking that truckers dominate the satellite radio market. After all, other folks might pay for the service, but few are behind the wheel listening as much as we are.

It was on CNN this morning that XM was off the air for a few days in most areas. They also mentioned that truck drivers account for over 90% or the sales so that answers my question.
Also, ever notice how all those damn commercials say the phone number anywhere from 3 to 7 times repeating it over and over again? The must think we have no short term memory and have to repeat it multiple times! |
