Not at those rates, and those fuel prices!
Cause you are actually, running below or at the costs. And eventually, it will catch up to you.
I'm sorry, that you feel under attack, believe me, that was not my intentions.
Just an honest opinion. Good luck!

At 6 mpg, his fuel is eating up $0.69 per mile of his profit, not counting in any deadhead/OOR miles. You and I both know that you can't lump everything else, including a driver's wage (and all the employer taxes associated with it), into that remaining $0.46-$0.81 per mile. It just isn't going to happen.

So far this month, it is $1.89 for all miles driven. I expect that will be getting closer to $2.00 by the end of the month.

Solo I am not feeling under attack, I am not trying to prove anything here,I am happy with the way I am running my business, but decided to
post when I saw how some people where puting down protrkdriver without
analysing his post,
As for my math, it is all right: Just to settle this down let my brak down the numbers of one of the trucks:

Avrg per year miles @ 2500 week X 52 =130000@ avrg $1.50 pm =$195,000 Gross
Fuel: 130000/6mpg=21667GL@ avrg $3.80 gl=$82,335.00
Driver:[email protected] pm=$39,000.00
Ins:Cargo,Lib,PhisDam=$9000.00
Prev maint:10 oilchanges+misc=$3000.00
Tires: $3000.00
expensive repairs;(oilcooler,alt,turbo)$3000.00
Total expenses:$136,335.00
$195,000.00 gross income-
$136,335.00 exp =$58,665.00/52=$1128.00 weekX 5 truck=$5640.00 X week
This is just an example to give you an idea, some trucks run 3000 or more per week, I do not know if you know what volume means in business, well there is the secret of selling at less price than your competitors

Those numbers work out, but your not paying the truck anything! Sure.....the truck is paid for, but eventually ur gonna have to replace it. U have to be subtracting for future CAPITAL expenditures to replace the truck. What do those numbers look like with a truck payment?

I don't want to go deeper yet , but you are confusing me here. ops:
First, you posted that you are running from $1.18 to $1.50 a loaded mile rate.
Now you are telling it's $1.50 cpm average and for all miles...
So, which one is that? Cause i know, to average $1.50 for "all miles" i should average at least $1.70 a loaded mile rate, and that's a different story.

And yes, i know what the "volume means in business", but it's also tearing down your equipment, and at the low profit margin, it may show you an ugly side.

Not to mention doing that 52 weeks a year is highly unlikely. I base everything off of 48 weeks maximum. One breakdown will destroy your 52 week projection.

Now let's see GhostCaptain do that same projection with $1.18 per mile, since that's his low end. Let's also see him bump his fuel cost up from $3.80 per gallon, which is far too low. Not to mention his maintenance is a little bit low (but not too terrible). Plus he has no plates or permits in there. Then there's self employment tax - gotta throw that in. And, of course, that pesky tractor replacement fund. 130,000 miles a year will eat a truck up fast.

its not a great idea at all. if you post asking for opinions, be prepared for negativity from people who may know better than you do. you won't average 70 mph anywhere. to the guy who said you can't make 800 as a company driver, that is bs. I sold my truck and took a company job and I bring home more than 800 a week....percentage paid, but I roll hard and work harder....im not too far away from having knocked down 100k miles here since sept. 17th which was my start date. much harder than a lot of guys want to work but I do not mind it.....get it while its there, right? im also home every 2 weeks if not more often. I have proof of everything I've stated...its a family owned company and we have many guys there making 65k a year there. very low turn over rate there. there is life beyond mega carriers or .30 cpm gigs as well.

haha didn't refresh the thread before posting so sorry bout that. also, the .30cpm comment was a generic number, didn't mean to use ghostcaptains number so no dig there, boss.
