Yes,you are right I miss used the word "avrg" what I ment to say
was that most of the time our rates are $1.50 pm some times more, some times less,if you noticed I put the truck running 2500 miles per week when it usually run 3000, so i have 500X52=26000 miles to cover
whatever expense you come up with, I am not posting a full accounting report just to prove something that I do not care if you beleive or not,
my point is that anybody can run his truck at any rate he is happy with,
as long as he is making money,how much? it depends in each individual needs, so if I want to run my truck for $1.00 per mile and I am happy with what I am making,so be it,at this moment I can afford to replace
my 2 older trucks paying cash and recoup my investment with the help
of other 3 trucks in less than 6 months, we all do business in a different way, I see money this way. If I have $25,000.00 at the bank for a year
@7%apr I will be making $1750.00 in one year If I invest the same $25,000.00 in a truck and that truck gives me $450.00 per week I will be making in one month what I make in the bank in one year, so if any of my trucks gives me $1000.00 per week I am happy,happy,happy,
It was nice talking to you guys, Sunday is over, so gotta go sleep,gotta run a trucking business in the morning

Captain, you made me wonder, if you even run this business of yours? :roll:
Do you familiar, with the Cost per mile concept?
I'm leased O/O, truck only, plates, permits, fuel tax, trailers, C&L Ins...paid by the company. My truck is 2005 got it new in 2004, and it's been paid off about a year ago.
Still, i figuring my CPM at $0.95cpm, before my wages, at the current fuel price. Oh! Forgot to mention, I'm averaging 7mpg.

I assume, you are running under your authority, with your own trailers...
I also believe :roll: that you did get lucky to find a morons to run for $0.30cpm no benefits, and you don't pay payroll and other related taxes...
And finally, i do believe, that you are happy with your numbers...

What i don't believe, is that you could run profitable business, cause it's against the law of math, and against the law of practical common sense!

I do not know what % of the revenue per trip are you getting, but lets assume you are getting 70%. That means the company is getting $300.00
of every $1000. I do not know eather if you run FB or DV, but lets say you running Dry Van at a very good rate of $1.75 which I doubt, if you run 3000 miles in a week,that is $5250.00-30% =$3675.00 that is your gross, now 3000miles/7gpm=428Gl@$3.80=1626.00
Your gross $3675.00 minus fuel $1626.00=$2049.00/3000miles=$0.68 pm
The Company $1575.00 Risk for their Van you pulling 0 it is insured
You $0.68 per mile risk 2005 $45,000.00 truck, engine repair,clutch,transmission,blown tire, you never know what is going to break in the road

It would be a cold day in hell before I ran for $1.75 per mile gross. For the month of March so far, my average gross per mile rate has been $2.62 per mile plus FSC. :roll:

That's about right. But,...for the last year, when fuel was about a buck a gallon cheaper, It's not "gross", it's my cut, also company I'm leased to, loosing about a million dollars every year on trucks, but recovering it 100 fold on a brokerage.

Basically, they keep their own trucks, as a part of "customer service" not for profit.
Also, when the fuel was around $2.50 a gallon, i did ask the boss, how much does it cost him to run a company truck?
$1.62 a mile! Remember,- fuel was around $2.50 a gallon...

This are my costs per milelast year when Diesel was $2.50 pg)
Fuel:$2.50/6mpg=$0.42 (rounded up to next cent)
Driver:$0.30 cpm
Ins C&L:$0.4 cpm
Prev maint:less than a cent per mile
Repairs:less than a cent per mile
(based in running 600 miles per day)
My cost per mile:$0.76 (per driving mile)
That lives $0.74.5 cpm (from those you can take 25% for administrative expenses, tax,office,utilities,etc.)$0.74.5X130000miles=$96, 850.00
This year we started applying FSC to level our fuel expenses, which of course,I own the trucks , company keeps it 100%
It is a little bit different when you are a 1 truck O/P to a multiple truck Company
If your Company is losing $1,000,000.00 with their trucks, they must own a lot of trucks and should be getting big discounts in everything,from fuel to tires and spare parts, I think they lied to you
