My truck is quiet,.....quiet,..shhhh,..don't wake up my truck,....now that the sound foam is up,..its like driving inside a pillow,...shhhhh

I won't be headed back West for a while, I don't think I could take another day down here on the 10.
Congrats on not listening to all the yahoos who told you to tuck your tail between your legs and leave.
Good job putting together that load DH. Hopefully you won't freak on yerself getting it done!! And remember..if you are making drops enroute..maybe you can find something close that fit's into the route, that is easy and pays decent. Even one pick up can make you that little extra.

One more day and I would have run away,....but then I got to thinking about what Gman said,...so I looked into LTL more closely.
Now don't get me wrong,...on Monday I wanted to pull my hair out,..
Load confirmed,...load cancelled
wrong pick up/drop off days
can't load till Friday
Gotta have it there by Monday.
This drove me mad
I ended up with 3 confirmed 1 pick up in Yuma (3,300lbs) 2 in Oklahoma City (10,000lbs & 16,000lbs),...and a possible 4th (2500lbs) just South of Ok,City, but I won't know till Friday morning (2 have an open delivery of next week please).
When all is said and done from point A to B, I was able to get $5,494.22 on 2800 miles,..than I can add another $950 if the last one bites on.
I am trying not to get too worked up over the drop days/times and the 2 open drops really made this possible. The last drop is 400 miles from the 2nd drop,..so I'm going to do just that and see if I can slide another on near Mass to take to PA.

I used a closed cell foam (3/16 thick) with aluminum foil type skin on both sides (this stuff is designed for use on street rods). I payed $270.00 delivered, for 500 sq feet.
I placed 4 layers on the inside of the hood/firewall(with high temp spray adhesive),and the floor of my cab, then I placed it inside the doors, and some under the dash. I still have 200 sq ft left to do the inside of the fender skirts, the road noise still finds a way in,..but the engine is quiet,..so all in all,..the Dog is happy.

Let's not forget that this rate was at a cost of 4 days. Im not knocking on Doghouse in any way. He did Ok even though there are rates for full one-pick/one-drop loads that pay close to that going into the northeast. Now if you will just forward me your address I will mail you a shower coupon free of charge

I wish there was a one pick one drop going anywhere East for that rate. I watched the boards (GL and IT) I called all 10 brokers I'm signed up with, for the entire time, and nothing leaving a radius of 500 miles from Tucson was headed anywhere for even $1.30 a mile.
I even put out a message on this forum and a couple of others,......got nothing at all. I know this rate for partials is garbage ,...but at least it puts me where there are 2,400 loads within a 300 mile radius instead of only 8 runs within a 300 mile radius.

As far as the 4 days of sitting,..it took 3 of those 4 days to insulate the cab from the engine/road noise,...and I carry my shower with me.

I'm not being trying to be an a$$, but where were those good paying runs that you knew about and forgot to mention when I posted this question last week  ?

ROFL  Uh huh. That's why he was stuck there with nothing to haul. If there were all these good paying one-drop loads, why were you telling him to deadhead?

Hey Dog, saw you going east thru Deming, MN Wednesday, and you thought the triple T was dusty. Were you getting about 20 mpg with that tail wind?

Did you get a CB yet or do we still have to yell out the window?
