Hello all!! I am new here and hoping you owner operators can help me! I am a driver recruiter - I am working to on-board an owner op. Here is my delima....

He is currently not employed and therefore has NO DOT/MC#s on his truck. He doesn't have his own.

Can he drive that truck from his home to our location to be inspected by our shop and do his road test with no numbers on his truck? My company seems unwilling to allow him to even temporarily use our numbers to get him here.

I have searched and seached through FMCSA and cannot find anything. Can you guys help me??

The O/O you are seeking to hire may wish to run his vehicle without signs - simply attaching a placard or sign stating 'NOT FOR HIRE" to each side of the truck. If you have not technically "hired" him or "contracted/leased" him to your company until after vehicle inspection, road test and orientation he should not be displaying your numbers.
