Getting ready to buy new drives and considering Double Coin RLB 400, which is 30/32 tread and resembles the Bridgestone Tire M726 I had when I bought the Truck and also the Bandag caps I bought 2 years ago and got great service from them.

My question is would the Double Coin Tires hold up with my Log Hauling I do? I stay on the road 99% of the time pulling off a woodyard.

This is the deal for the RLB 400, $287.83 including all fees for a total of$2302.64, mounting will be $135.00. Total cost including everything is: $2437.64. I know there are other tires out there, but now sure I want to sink alot of money in tires since I haul logs. The Bandag caps have given me good service, none have blew or thrown the carcass, and may go back with them, not sure yet.

Want your advice and suggestions on this.

 

Double Coin's are good tires. So are Ohtsu. If you can run caps...nothing wrong with that either.

 

I have had very good service out of Double Coin tires. I am sure you would also receive good service from them. I don't think that you can beat Double Coin for the price and quality. They have a 1 year replacement. I don't know of another tire that offers that type of warranty.

 

WOW the one year is great! I bought a couple of dynatrac drive tires and they wore much worse than the caps I have on my Truck now. I can have them capped and put on trailer after they wear out so that would be good.

Double Coin has several different styles. I usually buy the thick thread. I am trying them on my step deck. I will need to check, but I believe that it is the same model as you noted. It is either 30/32 or 32/32 tread depth. I get a very good price on them from a local distributor. Love's is now carrying Double Coin at some of their stores, but I can get a little better price locally. I have a local guy who will change tires for $15 per tire plus $15 for the road call as long as it is before 5:00 pm. After that time he charges $25/tire plus $25 for the road call. It is still much cheaper than most road service calls.

Thanks GMAN, found a local Truck Tire Shop, Westmoreland Tires carries them and they are $50.00 cheaper total cost with them and only 7 miles from my house.

I have had some people tell me Double Coin will not last, but these are the same people who told me that CAPS would not last on a Logging Truck. I have 6 caps on my Truck, 2 Dynatrac Virgin and the CAPS have worn better than the Virgin Tires. I try to keep a close eye on my Tires so I believe they will do me good, and when they are needing to be replaced I can get them capped and put on my Trailer.

 

It is great if you have at least 2 tires that need to be changed. Even with only one, it is still cheaper than going to most tire stores or truck stops. I had a guy at a small shop off I-40 in Tennessee quote me $55 to put a patch on a tire. It was $45 for labor and $10 for the patch. I plugged it, aired it up and put a patch on it later. My tire guy charged me $7.50 to put a patch on a tire when he came out to change a couple of other tires. If you get down this way let me know and I will get you his number.

 

I had a tire dealer tell me the same thing. I can only go by my personal experience. The tire dealer wanted to sell me a different brand for more money. I am glad that you found a local dealer with whom you can deal.
