Default Exhaust pyro gauge

This week I read the manual for the 2012 Kenworth T660 I drive. I noticed that it states that exhaust pyrometer gauges are only available on export trucks. I would think that, with the regeneration systems causing very high exhaust temperatures, these would be standard equipment on new trucks. Do y'all know of any reasoning as to why this isn't so?

You may be right on that one. Since I'm at a dealer (stupid DEF dosing unit again), I'll try to remember to ask the service department in the morning.

That's what the service tech told me.

The pyro gauge would be before the regen system.

Well, even if the OEM only offered pyro gauge for export trucks, anyone can install one them selves for a very reasonable cost.

I was kinda figuring that. If I ever buy that truck, I might do it. I'd definitely put in a turbo boost gauge, though, but who knows.
