Default FedEx

Anyone out there leased to Fedex? I have been looking around and it doesn't seem like a bad deal. .96 a mile to start with fuel capped at 1.249 a gallon. Just wondering if you get a lot of miles? They say you will be at 1.03 per mile after 3 years.

Paying 1.249 for fuel seems a lot better than companies that offer a 30 something cent a mile fuel surchage. If I am missing something, let me know.

I am interested as well, even though they don't list any opportunities for contractors in my area :-(

Well I just read on truckflix that single O/Os only avg 2200 miles a week. Teams 4500.

Not really enough miles for a solo at .96 a mile is it?

I don't know, I've never done the L/O O/O thing. Unless they have some other benefits that aren't listed it doesn't sound like much.

You sure do! :P

At $0.30cpm FSC, and 6mpg, that $2.50 a gallon fuel, is only going to cost you $0.70 per gallon.

Personally, i didn't like, that kind of "deal" either way, i'm in this business to make money, not to run miles, and if somebody thinks it's the same, he is not quiet ready for that venture...

Just an opinion.

Ok can you explain that formula? I guess I don't fully understand the fuel surcharge. Please enlighten me! Many thanks

if a companies paying you 30 cpm for fsc and your truck gets 6mpg that means for every gallon you burn your getting a 1.80 (6 x .30) per mile in fsc, that means your cost per gallon assuming you paid 2.50 a gallon would only be 70 cents a gallon.

You had to....I'd KILL for 3ocpm fsc.....
mine is usually paid as a percentage of the linehaul.....depending on the currently posted cost of fuel it can be 10, 12, 15, 20% or more...(I once got 22%...boy was that nice)....but it has never been enough to change my felt cost of fuel from $2.50 to $0.70)

The only good thing about the whole fsc claptrap is it is more $$$ to your bottom line (and it is a "hidden" way to charge a higher rate without totally re-publishing your freight rates)....sure you don't pay tax on it but you should be deducting 100% of your fuel cost (among MANY other things) as a pre-tax business expense anyway!
