Well this week has been a whole lot better. I am getting more efficient all the way around . My Dad bought me a GPS which has been great. I can plan my routes much better , find fuel , all sorts of stuff. I got a couple of cars late today , one was 27 miles from home so I brought the truck on in . My parking space is not ready yet but Monday night I got to park at a ford dealership where I picked up a car. Tuesday night I parked at an abandoned parking lot that I had noticed. I saw 10 or so other trucks there and figured what the heck. When I pulled in I saw a sign posted that they were going to do some construction in May and for the truckers to move on out. I got my truck this morn and there were a bunch of guys doing surveys and so-on . I thought, just my luck, my first time parking there and they start working on it the next day. Well they didn't say anything but I figure I better not do that again. the other trucks were still coming in parking when I went by this afternoon. The biggest problem I am having is with the folks where I pick up the cars, I had one in Cave City yesterday, they were suppose to leave the keys under the seat because I told them I would not get there by the time thay closed.
I got there about 7:00 pm, and saw the truck but there was no key . I called my contact number knowing the place was closed but figured I would try anyway. There was a recording that gave an emergency #. I called it and said I was there to get the truck and they sent a guy over in a little while. The guy that came was the boss, he said the girl that was supposed to leave the key just forgot. Duh ! Another pickup was delayed because I had to wait over an hour for someone to show up . These people just don't give a crap but then again they would love for me to leave and come back the next day so they can charge an extra day's storage fee. Late today I picked up a police car. It was damaged
on the Natcher Parkway when the cop stopped for another accident.
I had a hard time getting it up on the top. The deck was slippery and I was way up on a hill. I used my winch but I am a bit scared of the cable breaking because I have broken two this week . I will get all new cables tomorrow . Actually they broke right at the hook, I suppose that was a weak place where the cable wraps around the hook . Never the less I want to get some better cables. I had to put the car up top because I have others to pick in the morn. I went to get the one that was 27 miles from home and it was way down in a a low place in the owners yard. I was so soggy that I could barely walk in it . I told them I would come early in the morn and figure it out. It was in a small town named Centertown. I went to a little store about a block from the car and struck up a conversation with a fella there. We talked a good little while and to make a long story short , he said he would pull it out in the morn with his jeep . Anyway, gotta get in bed . Darin

Some of the dumbest people I've met work at auctions. Be careful about leaving your GPS in the truck over night. They get stolen quite a bit.

Right Bigmon . I take it out every night. I finished up this week with 17 cars , should have been 18 but the last one I went to get was in a very wet and soggy driveway. I actually got stuck but somehow got the truck out. I told the owner I would be back when he pulled the vehicle up to the road. Anyway I did a lot better on time and fuel . If Copart would all get on the same page I could get more cars and save them some money and make more myself. . For example, I have on several occasions picked up a car at a location to find out later they had two that could have gone . Also I had a pick up for this morn near Glasgow KY . I went and got it and after getting back to Bowling Green ( about 30 miles), I was told there was another car at Glasgow so I had to go back . They will call me at the last minute and say , "can you go to so and so and pick up a car, it needs to be moved today" but on the otherhand that let some sit for days and days. I tell you what , If I had a couple of acres in Bowling Green , I could cut a deal with these ins companies and store these cars for less . I could still make a lot of money and in turn save them money. Another idea I had is a parking lot for Trucks . There is nothing in Bowling Green. No truckstops except for a small one . The place I parked at the other night is about to become unavailable for those trucks parking there now. This afternoon I saw about 15 or so trucks still parked there. Yep ,Im brain stormin!
