form 2290

Do like Arky says. I also went to my local IRS office and it took 10 minutes. Can you beleive that! That's in NY. You can download the form online, take your time filling it out, it is very simple though and should take no more then five minutes. Bring it in to the IRS office like they said and write a check and your done. 8)

It is up to you as to whether you use your Social Security number or apply for a FEIN. The IRS can usually give you a FEIN when you go by to pay your 2290. It usually only takes a few minutes.

Bring a check or money order, they won't take credit/debit, and some won't take cash.
I was in and out quick in Florida, but the payment issue had me going back twice. Guy at the receptionist desk said I could use cash,...so I went to the ATM, then the guy who filed the 2290 told me I had to use check or money order,..., Sheesh!! get on the same page will you guys :?

If you do go in person my advice is don't bring your camera phone, you will be making a trip back to your car, dont wear steel toed boots, and what ever you do don't bring a metal pen they will take it. Then when you get into the IRS office and don't have a pen they "can't" loan you one. This is just a breif description of my last trip to the federal building,it was rather comical to say the least.
