I thought some of these independants would get down in the mid 20's,
For example 3 weeks ago I did a trip from TN to TX, then from there I took a load to WY, then to ND. I dead headed 790 miles from ND to WI because the best load from ND was barely a 1.20 a mile. I could have taken that load, and not deadheaded 790 miles and brought the fuel cost/ revenue percentage down, but there is a line that I just wont cross, no matter what. There is something else besides fuel cost, and rate per mile, and all that stuff, that is not often talked about around here, and that is time. What is your time worth? When I look at a load, I always figure in the time involved with it along with the rate. I'm not going to dikk around with a 500 dollar load that goes a 100 miles, if its going to take all day to load, and unload, even though the rate is 5 dollars a mile, it doesn't mean anything.
