Well DD, I too have been watching your thread since moving to LoneStar. I'm starting there as a company driver on the 10th after having been on the motorcycle show circuit for two years. Guess the economy has decided a career change for me and after looking into every company I could get info on I decided on LoneStar. (I have a background in heavy/specialized)

I'll start a company driver thread as soon as I arrive in Gainsville to let everyone else know how it's going on the employee side of the company.

Congrats!!! I was very impressed with what they had to offer their company drivers as far as pay goes. I keep in touch with a couple of guys that I went to orientation with and they said that L.S. is true to their word when it came to some of that "extra" pay. I'll be looking for your thread when you get it up and running.

I picked up 3 used compressors from Greenville, MS on Friday. The BOL said it was to deliver in La Porte, TX on Monday at 8am. I was a little bummed out because because going home to San Antonio (about 200 miles west) for the weekend and then returning to La Porte on Monday (Sunday night) would have been too many "unpaid" miles.

So I rolled the "Dice" and asked the consignee when he wanted the load, hoping that he would want it as soon as possible. He asked if I could be there on Friday and I replied yes but it wouldn't be until early evening. Unfortunately that would not work for him so he then asked which I would prefer, deliver on Saturday or Monday? Not a hard decision for me so I was at his front door first thing this morning.

I am currently at home for the weekend and will head over to Schertz, TX Monday to pick up my trailer  that has already been loaded and head back to Iuka, MS.

Other than the one load I took from Laredo, TX to Warren, MI, I have been running basically on I-40 and south. I enjoy that and hope it continues that way through winter.....

I've been "slacking" a little in when it comes to updating the thread so I thought I had better make a post so you all didn't think I fell off the earth.

I picked up my trailer at the plant in Schertz, TX back on Monday the 3rd and headed over to Iuka, MS. The whole trip was pretty much uneventful and everything went smooth.

Once I called in my empty status they offered me 2 loads back to back. The first one was going from Iuka, MS to Elizabeth, NJ. Then I would load in Baltimore, MD and head to Seguin, TX. Before they could even tell me what the rates were, I declined it as I am NOT a fan of that area of the country. My dispatcher then said no problem but just be advised that "D" (another O/O I know from orientation) has been sitting since Monday and there wasn't much prospects at the time. I said no worries, I'll wait it out. So just I am about to head up into TN where I could shut down, shower, eat, etc, I get another call from my dispatcher telling me that "D" is going to take one of the two loads to Elizabeth and then reload out of York, PA and if I was interested, I could grab the 2nd load (at both places) and run with him. So after thinking it over and talking with "D" I decided to go ahead and make the run. Misery love company right?

We loaded the following morning in Iuka about 5 miles from the drop site and started rolling towards NJ. We made it there Friday without any real problems and got unloaded. We then beat feet towards York, PA were we reloaded with no problems. On our way towards Seguin, TX we ended up stopping at the Liberty Truck Stop off I-81 in Mt. Jackson, VA. I have passed by this place a few times but never stopped there. Well I have to say it will now become a place to stop as I was somewhat impressed with the cleanliness of the place as well as the hot shower, great water pressure and fluffy towel (yes this t.s. has fluffy towels if you can belive it). Sometimes it's the little things in life that have huge impacts.

Anyways, the next morning I am rolling out of there and I happen to glance over at the t.s. across the street and to my suprise I see a very unmistakable looking Pete with a Landstar van attached to it........any guesses who it was? If you guessed the one and only "Rev" you are correct. It was 7am local time and since I didn't see any movement out or about the truck, I decided not to go over as I didn't want to risk waking someone. Next time I think I'm gonna just bang on his door regardless of the time.

So we continue our journey to Seguin and I was figuring that once I was emptied I would more than likely be reloading at the same plant in Schertz and heading back to Iuka, MS. I also figured that since this coming Tuesday is Veterans Day that my reload would happen on Wednesday. This would be fine with me because my log book is low on hours and I live just 50 down the road. Well sure enough I picked up an "OD" load out of Schertz but this time its going to Cliffside, NC. I was going to head home but that would put me 100 miles out of route when it was all said and done just to take a 10 hour break. I talked it over with the wife and we decided that it wouldn't be very cost effect so I didn't go home. Instead, here I sit at the wonderful TA in New Braunfels, TX waiting until tomorrow morning when I've gained some hours back. I am going to use this "down time" to do some laundry, shower, clean up the truck a bit and just relax.

There's no such thing as a perfect company and I have my issues, but over all things are O.K.

As for dewercs2, I have not heard from him in a long time and was just wondering the other day how he's doing. Maybe he couldn't get back on the site after the change??????
