Running close sure is nice huh.?

I took a loaded container up to Alburquerque on wednesday. I weighed maybe 15k. It was my first time in the snow and wasn't to bad. Everyone headed west kept telling the eastbound side that 40 was closed before Flagstaff. I stopped in Kingman, AZ and it was snowing good there. I stayed for about an hour and then said the hell with it, the least that will happen is I'll be stopped. I was worried though. I don't have chains on the truck and only have some cables but those are under my bunk. Got up and over the mountian with no problem. Did happen to see a couple jackknife trucks and some 4wheelers off roading it.
Anyway coming back thursday night was an adventure with the ice but made it back again. I dropped my empty container back at the Long Beach Port Terminal and was told no loads were available and it was okay for me to head home. I had 2 loads this week. YIKES ! and I'm interested to see what my pay will be.

I delivered monday mid pm in El Centro and was stranded there that night. Then was told to head to Long Beach and pick up the Container tuesday afternoon and I shut down in Ludlow,CA. Wednesday I made it to Albu. Thursday I delivered and drove back as far as Kingman. Today I ran back into the port and now home.
Wondering what's in store for monday.

I did see 3 Lone Star oversize trucks pulling buildings. The first one I saw was by the Chieftian truck stop on the 40 in NM. He wasn't having fun. He came up the westbound getoff ramp and found he could not make the left to go over the bridge. He was somehow wedged in from what I could see as I went by. He had a pilot car with him along with a state trooper. About 30 miles west I came across the other 2 trucks that were motoring along and gave them a heads up to what had happen. They said the driver started to make the turn and found out that the ramp was to tight to make the turn.

I'm looking for ya if you happen to be in my neck of the woods give me a holler.

Ever hear from Goin Fer it or Goin fer it wife? Wonder how they both are doin?

Good to hear from ya' Sorry to hear that you only had 2 loads in a week but you get paid on all miles right? I would think that your check should be O.k. Sucks to be that Lone Star driver that got stuck. Got to be thinking of everything when hauling an O.D. load. One of my friends is still at Davis and he just spent a week sitting in NM. They finally get him a 10' wide load out of White Sands going to Cali, when he goes to pick it up, it turns out to be 10' wide and 9' high. So he calls the company and they cancel the load because it was too high . 9' high would have made him about 14' high after loaded and there were no low clearances between him and his consignee on his permitted route, I couldn't believe they canceled because of that and lets just say he's not too happy.

Anyways, as far as GFI & GFIW....I have not heard a peep from them in ages. I am assuming and hoping they are doing fine. Not sure if or when I'll pull a load out that way, but why don't you PM me your number (lost it ) and I'll give you a call if I head that way.

Yeah...I was underway aboard the USS Ross....since my sea time is with Cruisers and Carriers, needless to say I was a bit "woosey" for a day or two (you guys dont laugh too hard). I am attatched to ATG so as you may already know, I am only underway on each ship for a week max...unless we are riding a flat top (aircraft carrier for those that dont know)..then we are underway for a bit longer.

The stuff you guys discuss in general conversation is worth its weight in gold. Some of the "discussions" (read: arguments) are valuable as well.

Can you pull a flat with Landstar or are they strickly van?

Be safe out there and I can't wait till I am back home in the Great State of Texas.

I think I might have to do some of that curtian side stuff.

I remember being in Oswego, NY and having to deal with coils. The dang sidekit panels not wanting to fit back together after getting my straps fed under the panels. I remember this O/O telling me that I needed to get one of these as he slid his softsided trailer over the load. He was done in minutes where I had to hustle to do it in under a few hours.

Ahh the days with Davis, I miss the folks there.

DD, I get paid by Percentage. Any DH I do is for free. But... My driver manager does take care of me and I do feel and see the love on my check, if you know what I mean.

Arrow has now opened a new office in Ontario across the R/R tracks from the TA east on Airport Ave. They will be in charge of all freight movement in Ca. They have a girl named Heather who told me she came from LandStar as a load planner.

We'll see how freight will move for us (me) since the office team is all new to Arrow....

Here comes the PM

I made the drop in Laredo Monday morning as planned. The wife was off work so she decided to ride along with me for the heck of it. I waited until about noon-ish for a load heading back to or through San Antonio (I know it was a long shot) and nothing came up so I DH home. About half way home wouldn't you know it but not one, not two, but three different loads popped up heading in my direction from Laredo . By then it was too late and I just went on home. So here I am at the house and plan to be here through at least X-Mas and will head out anytime there after.

I hope everyone is where they need or want to be for the holidays and if you're out there on the road please be safe.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!
