High-Seas to Highways

I got to my customer in Tacoma just before they opened. I got loaded and before tarping, I ran down the road to a Flying “J” truck stop and scaled it. I am a little heavy at just over 75,500lbs gross, but I am perfectly legal on all my axles. I intended to drive all the way to Missoula before shutting down but found myself a little exhausted by the time I reached Spokane, WA. I shut down at what looks like a new Petro truck stop there on I-90. I got up early and ran on over to Missoula. There I had the shop look at the passenger side mirror as the heating element has not been working. I also developed a problem with one of my glad-hands on the trailer yesterday and they looked at it as well. They also conducted the annual inspection on my tractor and trailer, replaced both my steer tires and steam washed my engine. I ended up spending about 5 ½ hours there in Missoula which was a lot longer than I wanted, but at least my “baby’ has been inspected, repaired, engine cleaned, and is running smooth. I got on the road and surprisingly felt a little tired once again and shut down in Rocker, MT. This is not like me as you all know I like to run a little hard. But it’s all good as I have way more time than I need to make the final drop in R.I. and I’ll make up for “my” lost time over the next couple of days. If I was to run only 375 miles a day for the next seven days, I would still have my load there on time. I usually run about 650 to 700 a day and therefore will deliver early even with these past 2 days being short mileage days.

DD, I went to the clinic today at Marine Corps Base Quantico on recruiting business. I arrived just before the CPO pinning ceremony started. I hadn't been to one since I retired 3.5 years ago so I stayed and stood when the creed was read. I was the only one in the crowd in civvies that stood. Kinda cool.

I am glad you are still liking it! There will be good days and bad days just like anything else! Goin Fer It's Wife

I had an overweight issue too a year ago. Being 2k over cost me close to 300 bucks here in WA. They were even kind enough to list it on my driver's abstract. But from what I'm told it's not counted as a moving violation either. Get too many of them on an abstract and it could show your next employer you're irresponsible.
