Consistency is the main thing to keep in mind. If you use your
GPS to calculate all miles then that should be sufficient. If you have any doubts you may want to get in touch with your state IFTA office and ask them. They are the ones most likely to do an audit. Keeping accurate records is critical. I prefer using a trip sheet for each trip or load that I take. That is one thing that auditors may check. I prefer writing down the mileage as I cross each state line. Old habits are hard to break. Most state offices are helpful when it comes to answering questions about how you need to keep and maintain records.
