Things doesn't look bright in a dry box side either. Another oversupply i guess... It will take time, and i believe the lower fuel price will make things even worse, i mean longer.

Having a hard time believing the Dat reports of what the rates have been. They seem to be a lot higher than what's being offered.

The volumn of loads on the load boards are a fraction of what was available in January and February.

that's the truth. the rates are in the toilet as well. I'm seeing $200-300 lower then the norm. what I think happened is that everyone jumped back in with the lower fuel. I never thought I'd say this.. cant wait for fuel to go back up.

Questions can be short but require long answers. I answered this below. I had to make some corrections. I couldn't delete it or I would have.

I haul flat out of the Vegas area. Loads have dropped from 250 loads posted regularly last yr on Truckstop & back going back to 2012, to a pathetic 100-129 today. What makes this worse is many of the loads are to CA, cutting into the loads even more.

I spoke to another carrier in April who runs here also. He said this 1 st qt 2015 was the worst he's ever seen.

When I called KR around April 2015 to report the drop, and asked his take, & to put out a call to see if others in trucking around the country where having a problem. He basically dumped on my statement and said what does it matter, you did the looking, and saw difference. Of course that was not the point.

I put in series of calls, ie oil sample, to his program only to be cut short & or dismissed. Not all calls but quite a few.

A few weeks later he came out and said there is a drop in the market and if you only made it because of last years upward market you could have problems this year. He failed to give credit to a caller for bring this drop in loads to his attention. In doing what he did he was making it seem like he discovered the drop in the market and was setting out to warn drivers; but after the fact. (I've always been taught you give credit where credit is do!). This was opposite of his pumping up the market last yr. and saying 2015 looks like it'll be good. I wonder how many drivers made purchases based on this?

His radio program is not what it was. I got in truck'n and bought an old truck listening to him. It cost me $12k for the truck, and $11k ripoff by a Freightliner shop that worked on it, and worked on me to. He didn't warn people about truck shop rips until after I called in, and complained about my old truck experience. As I recall he was dismissive of me then too.

Short answer, trucking is WAY DOWN, at least in this area. Whats worse is that CA doesn't allow my truck in. This has cut into the loads that are available. Be careful what you act on when you listen to the radio.

Its not the fuel/oil industry. The oil only added to the 2014 upward move. Presently the loads and rates have dropped below, if not way below 2013 &2012. It's the economy. Its also the water shortage; being drank up by all the mass of new foreigners in CA. (CA water supply can not support 40 million people). Since the water shortage they don't need as many products out there from flats anymore. Vans look like there down also, but don't follow vans, although I have been watching them as of recent. Why? Because of the drop in loads and not as much to do.

It is in part do to oil not being produced and the products they use; this is a small issue it only effected the 2014 big jump. Everything else was the same. For vans it might be because of loads from China diverted from L.A. CA to the South East.

I believe we may be entering into a major slow down. Its major to me right now. CA is flooded with foreigners draining the water supply & food supply, while CA/USA is sending $115 billion a yr in food, grown with our water, out of our country. You see this is now become what the people in power call TRADE. We TRADE OUR VALUABLE RESOURCES, food and water, to the very people our government has allowed our jobs, IE. China, & call it trade. But it puts us all in danger in so many ways; water shortage, food shortage, foreigners in our country robbing and thieving. crime-ing more and more because of everything I've mentioned. And now whites are getting into You can't keep adding foreigners to a land, CA, being drained of water.

I believe we are in deep trouble. Media won't tell the truth and or even investigate. We can no longer trust the media or our government sad to say.

Rates are in the toilet. You can't haul 100-600 mile runs, out of this area for the rates there offering; most of the loads go to "no ware land" and you should get a good rate to cover the "No Loads" out. You need to charge as to get back or to the next load which will be a long distance and probably pvery little. Example, Albuquerque has little chance of a haul out of there. They are trying to get people to haul loads there for $1100-$1200. I just looked at SLC they want to pay 700, WTH! I ask for more money which is needed do to the drop in loads. If I don't get it I'll shut dn.

Just saying very good post.I know something is wrong, and I just cannot put my hands on it.This is almost like 2010.Landstar, ITS, CHRW and all those load boards dont have the supply like they did.The loads are also heavier than before. This really scares me.

Give us your take on 2010, 09, 08 or what ever.

Where are you hauling out of? Where do you run?

I'm writing all of this because it is such a serious and dangerous problem we face and I have plenty of time because loads are down so much.

I do wish a lot more drivers would report what they're experiencing so we can try to get an idea of how extensive this problem is. This said flat bed for the most part is construction material.

This can't be sustained because we can not build endlessly. Just look at CA. They have a water crisis. Not because of water shortage but a shortage do to the fact that our government has allowed millions of Mexicans and other 3rd worlders to flood into our country to drive down the wages of the jobs they could not send to China, IE. construction work, truck driving, warehouse workers, steel plants, fast food.

Not only did gov allow these tens of millions in to drive down wages of rightful CITIZENS the government has paid for the birthing 6 kids per female. Just in CA alone 50% of the population is Mexican when they were only 8% in 1970.

This crisis is going to include a water and food shortage. There's no way around this. The recent rain will not stop this crisis only stay it off. The carrying capacity in CA is reached a crescendo. Just look at what is happening to Lake Mead next to Vegas. When the water stops all you can do is walk away losing everything. Our food is being sent out of our country. Much of CA food goes to New York and they will be in pain. They just to stupid to get it. They'er to brainwashed by the corporations.

You might want to try hauling vans, but even this will be in jeopardy, too. (I've lived in So Ca, most of my life until run out by aliens & there 6 kids flooding streets, schools, creating gangs caused by their large number of kids running the streets. I lived in Vegas. My parents lived there since 1979. They have watched its destruction in the name of progress. Water is so expensive they and almost everyone has take out any greeny, except the Casinos. We have a huge problem are government & corps have caused).

I've been looking at van loads out of my area, Vegas and Phoenix. I did follow vans in the past so I can't do a comparison. I can say the loads do not seem to be what I think they should be, and the rates are absurd, ie. Phoenix to St. Petersburg, Fl 2138 miles & they want to pay $1.38 per mile. ITS load board says it should be paying $2.00 per mile. DAT says AZ has got a high number of loads to trucks; just go to DAT and look around. These to load boards make no sense.

ITS says the flats should be at $2.11 pm. I would never even do loads out of these areas at this price because they are loads to no wear, no back hauls, or hauls except for a few areas but they don't pay much, out; areas like SLC & Denver. Denver sucks big time. I want to do them for what I'd get paid if I drove max driving per day cross country; 60 mph X 10 or 11 hrs.. 11 x 60 = 660 x just a $1.50 = $990 a day.The flats don't get paid this. They try to get away with paying $500 a day plus fuel. Even $4.00 a mile isn't good, but because so many people get $1.50 to $1.80 long haul people thing $4 a mile is good. Its not compared long hauls daily rate doing the 660 miles a day. Figure it out and see what you come up with and let me know what yo think.

It should scary to you and everyone else except the 3 rd world savages that profit off of our pain and misery. I believe we are heading for a major collapse.

We have no productive industry for our people to work at. Corporations control everything we see & hear; it is brainwashing. Gov has allowed 10's of millions of illegal aliens to come into our country, to supply the business and corps with cheaper labor. To make things worse our gov has allowed them to birth 6 kids per female; since the 1970's, and we are paying for our own overthrow by Corporations and the Mexicans.

Just think about how many Mexican votes the Mexicans/Mexico has in our country now. Are country is now being swayed by the Mexican vote. We are under attack by the corporations and the government that is controlled by them. We are at War against us & most don't even get it.

I have some history, and social science's in my back ground.
