D.M, I am just saying that if you don't get the Great West rate then don't settle with someone for more than $5500.Just like others stated on here, Great West/agent will put your truck in as a class 6 or whatever cheaper criteria, just to reel you in.If the final rate that comes from the underwriterm is much higher than stated, then you should not settle for the rate I just quoted.Just be careful.Freight is getting worse this Dec, and I hope you don't completely pull the triger until feb+

Yeah.
And about this trigger.. - yeah I will.. Thing is, before come April 1 and plate renewal, I need to find out myself I there's hope for me in this business and if I'm fit for it. I know that Jan and Feb are there worst months for such endeavors but I just need to find out. You see, my bad back is getting worse and worse (with some epidural shots episodes) and I've been (happily) married for 5 years - AND been away from home on the road for 4. So, I have come to the point, I have to stop driving the truck.. That's why my plan is to drive the truck till March/April and see if there is any point/chance whatsoever of keeping the truck and then hiring a driver in my stead and still make some profit. And it wouldn't have to be a huge profit as I'm also planning to slowly turn my filmmaking passion into a business. I am also a part-time translator and would like to develop that as well. Yeah - many hats, I know. And having been on the road for 4 years (out of which, 3 in my own truck) - I don't want to just dump that experience and effort and equipment. Of course, so far as a leased-on O/O, I was more of an employee only with my own equipment. Now, instead of just whining about how it doesn't pay, I want to take over the burden of organizing the work (and income) myself and see if I'm cut out for it or not.

It would be poor business for an agent to deliberately put in the wrong classification when quoting an insurance premium. If that is the case, then I would not even consider that agent in writing a policy for me. |
