You have to be careful with those discounts at TA. Sometimes they have their fuel so high that when they give the discounts they are about the same price as Flying J, Pilot or some of the other truck stops at their regular price.

That's funny, considering that all the truckstops that are right near the T/A's that I generally fuel at all have the same prices.

When I was leased to Landstar they had fuel stops that offered discounts when you used the Comdata card. As I recall, we also had a transaction fee every time we used their card. At least with them, I would often find TA to be higher than Flying J. With the discounts they were offering at the time, I often found that the discount at TA wound up being about the same as the regular pump price at Flying J. That wasn't always true, but TA tends to have higher pump prices than some of the other truck stops. It is like a retailer that raises prices so that they can give a discount and make you feel that you are paying less. I get a discount at some fuel stops with my Fleet One card. I have to watch it with them, as well. Some discounts are good, others only bring the price down to where the fuel stops competition is selling.

Pilot also gives me a saving (printed) with the Comdata card. It may be 2.75 for the fee, but when i fill up, I save up to $16 off the price.

Just for the heck of it, I compared prices the last time I fueled. The pump price at T/A was $2.339 cash price, and every truck stop I passed within 50 miles was within 2 cents of that price.
