this is a tricky question, you see in any state you can make great money, its all about having a dedicated account that pays well. so its gonna depend on you to get your foot in the door somewhere in texas.

There is, but you need to be dang careful which company you lease to. As of right now..do not lease to Ace Transportation, Dynasty Transportation, Acme Transportation, or Venture Logistics..unless you want to do plenty of free waiting, plenty of free deadheading, plus run 3 logbooks.

If you have your own authority, search out a decent customer base. Ton's of pipe companies in Texas. Manufacturer's as well as distributor's. If you are centrally located to Houston, you can do well.

All I know is they pull dry van...that is what I see behind their trucks.

Are you looking to "Lease" to someone?

If so, what endorsements do you carry, and do you have a clean "background"??

You used to be able to do pretty well running flat bed intrastate in Texas. The last year or so has been really strange. Rates were in the basement for awhile. I have seen good rates running back and forth to Dallas, Houston, etc., It is a matter of making good contacts who pay their bills, especially if you are going to run your own authority. Do you live in the Houston area?

Yes I live about 30 miles out of Houston I've been checking freight rates and i know that container hauling is pretty cheap but I see where it pays 500.00 dollars each way (250 miles) to move one between Houston and Dallas with your own authority
