If ancient memory serves me the accident was a deer....right? If so it must of flipped under the axle to have damaged power steering area. Blech!...nice mess to clean up.
Yes, it was a deer. What happened was the hood got skewed when I smacked him, and it cracked the plastic top of the power steering reservoir, spilling fluid all over the place. It was a clean hit with the deer, but a PITA to change out the power steering reservoir at 10 pm in the middle of nowhere. I ended up having to have someone pick me up, bring me home to get my car, drive 2 1/2 hours to Madison, WI to pick up a new one, then drive 2 1/2 hours back to change it out. Luckily, I was only an hour or so from home at the time.

I'd still prefer what you did to having to clean "deer stew" from the engine compartment :?

What brand of mirror do you have?
They are heated moto mirrors with marker lights. They work good, but have some hail dings in them (not terribly noticeable). Make me an offer. I'm keeping most of the parts that are being taken off. Here's a complete list of usable parts that I should have:

379 factory headlights (the driver's side one is slightly bent, but no cracks. Passenger side is undamaged)
Texas style bumper (still fairly straight)
Passenger side front fender (small hail dings, but they could be pounded out pretty easily)
All Peterbilt badges
Pull handle off of the hood
Moto Mirrors and spot mirrors (hail damage)
Visor (slight hail damage)
Taylor Wing (hail damage and tree damage - might be able to be pounded out)
Quarter fenders (driver's side is bent, but could easily be repaired)
Rear mudflap bracket, driver's side only
Sections of the grill surround (top section and passenger side section are undamaged)
Passenger side fender bracket (undamaged)

Make me an offer.
I apologize, I really should have proof read that post, that was horrible. ops: I was reading an article on global warming and trying to respond at the same time. Guess I can't do two things at once.

Anywho, I'm not sure if I want the lighted mirrors, I'll give it some thought. Another problem is I'll have to figure out how to wire it all in, I'll look into that too. I was trying to find what a set of those mirrors go for new but I couldn't find a pair with lights.

I would like one of the Peterbilt badges though, I need to replace mine on the grill. Either that or I'll take it off all together. I haven't looked yet but can you pop those badges off with a heat gun or are they riveted I wonder?

No problem. The brand is Moto Mirror. They are OEM mirrors.

Just under a thousand bucks. EACH. And no, I'm not kidding. (And no, I wouldn't be expecting to get nearly that much out of them - Maybe $900 each tops :wink

I believe they are riveted on, but after seeing a bunch of them on eBay, I know it is possible to break the rivet without destroying the post.

HOLY CRAP!

My concept for my truck has changed SOOOOO much in the past week or so. I've decided on a theme for the truck (which kinda seems funny, considering the thing is going into the shop in less than a week). Better late than never, I suppose. I'm not ready to spill all the details yet, but I'll give you a few hints, and some update pics.

I've caught the customizing bug. Now that I've decided what the exterior will look like, I've begun digging into the interior. Here is what I would like to use (and heavily customize) for my dash:

Ironically enough, it is from a 41 Chevy, just like my headlights. It's a bit too short (10 inches too short), so I would have to add about 5 inches to each side of it to make it work. I'm still trying to figure out where I would put the 16 gauges I'd have to add to it (other than the speedometer), but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Here are some more pics of my fenders and headlights that I snagged off the webpage of the body shop doing my work. It is kind of difficult to put them into perspective, since they aren't attached to a truck, but here they are:

Now that is going to look sweet, I like when people step outside the box. That dash scores a 10. It is going to be a nice ride when done Rev. Keep the pics coming.

You are certainly not going to disappear into the crowd with those fenders. Very nice looking if I must say.

I might suggest going with something a bit more heavy duty than masking tape to hold them on

Duct tape?

Nice looking dash!!! Are you thinking of showing the truck when you are done? With all this potential, it sure looks like you could if you wanted to.
