Flatbedders normally center the fifth wheel between the drives. On my truck that's as far back as it goes. I can hang 2 feet off the front 8'6" wide or 3' overhang just in the center of the trailer and still not hit my cabinet and my wheelbase is only 249".

With spread axle trailers you really don't have to worry about weight too much except going over 80K.


Sounds like someone needs to become familiar with a tape measure before mounting things on trucks.
