I thought it might be interesting to give real world comparisons.

Here is the first one.

2006 International 9900, 500 HP ISX, 18 speed manual.

2010 step deck with a pump jack loaded. No Tarps.

Weed California to Bakersfiled, 59 mph, constant cruise control, 78,000 lbs

7.9 US MPG.

Post yours when you get it.

Real.

I filled it to the bottom of the bungs on both sides both times to the same point. And took an average of miles driven between the odo and the GPS. So it was pretty close.

My personal record so far is 8.25 mpg for about 1,600 miles round trip NJ, PA, OH, IN, NY. Fair amount of hills and urban traffic, few drops, and about 30% idling(it was hot). I'm puling 53 dry box, and it was pretty light this round, the heaviest i believe around 26,000lb. I've kept it around 62 mph on a soft cruise control (Cat) KW T600 2005 C-15, 475, 1850lb torque, 13 Eaton, 3.55 rears with 24.5 LP. I'm averaging 7+ running those roads. Mileage is actual, at the pump.

You don't think shippers and brokers are reading this and then basing fuel surcharge on 8 or 9 mpg instead of 5?

You chatty Kathys kill me!

Oh common! They pay as little as they could. They are a businessmen, unlike most truckers. Don't you think they already know what's it is in reality? And even if it's not, it's still a game.
