Hi Mike,

I went and compared your Apr 23 07 YTD (gross) vs your Apr 20 08 YTD which is $1.55 vs $1.73. Is that all due to FSC increases or have they increased your base rate per mile for 2008 vs 2007 as well?

Geo...I'm gonna venture a guess here.

Mike is seeing an increase in the FSC..I know I am(I'm leased into Mikes competion)..the rates...pretty much the same as last year..too many trucks chasing too few loads. The thing I notice about Mike's loads...the deadhead is down a good 6 to 7 percent...that right there will increase the revenue mile.

I have been yapping at my dispatcher & TM to cut out the deadheading they are giving me..I don't accept loads into the NE anymore, unless there is an iron-clad guarantee of a load out..or the rate is high enough that the mileage rate to the truck stay's profitable. My last 2 trips into the NE...the loads out paid more than the loads in...and those are the only trips into the NE that I have had loads out. I turned down 4 in the last month, because of the rate up and no guarantee out.

A few of our loads have increased in the rate, but in general I would atribute it to increased fsc.

My deadhead numbers may be a bit misleading,I have done a bunch of dedicated runs so far this year and I am not counting those empty miles as deadhead because imo they are figured into the rate.

My last 2 trips into the NE...the loads out paid more than the loads in..

A few years ago Miller opened up a terminal here, must have made lots of promises he couldn't keep, and the shippers haven't forgotten.

They (Miller)rolled one over in north Jersey last Wed, company team operated truck, had 287 closed 8 hours or so, don't know where he came from or was going, but the state police called Dana to pump the load onto another truck to get the road open.

The cab and sleeper was off the frame, and they said the guy in the sleeper was hurt badly, hope he's alright, was a white Internatl.

Happened at 5 AM the driver said the truck suddenly pulled right, he hit the wall head on and rolled it on its side 600 gallons of M M I leaked out, homes were evacuated for a few hours.

If you can't get a load out of Jersey in a chemical tank, somethings wrong somewhere, almost like not getting one out of Houston.

Didn't hear about the roll over yet. Have been home since thursday noon. Miller has a bad habit of brokering their NE loads out. Linden, Langer and Bork seem to haul them the most.
They pulled a load out from under me thursday morning...as I was backing under the pre-loaded trailer. Told me that a team truck would get the load to the customer on time. Was supposed to deliver sunday at 9am. Team took wrong route to Oregon..they are locked up at Ashland POE. Their permit to enter Oregon was for Fairwell Bend POE. Won't be set loose until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.

My revenge!! I read my paperwork...and now why that load has to enter on the east side of the state!

Linden and Langer are the "house" trucks at most of the places here, due to low rates and an abundance of local drivers who won't go more than 100 miles, mostly because the junk they drive won't make it much further.

We do mostly Lyondell, Dow and Sasol, we got under bid for the Eastman, Exxon/Mobil and Shell work by Langer and Linden.

Don't really see much of Bork though.

Looks like the Miller teams aren't doing too well this month.

I was in LaPorte 2 weeks ago and we are dead there, due to some real screw-ups by our company, plus one pretty BAD goof-up.

Won't be going back too soon myself, I don't think Mike will either

BIG changes here by June, supposed to be implemented by Sept at the latest, won't elaborate yet (although I told Mike) until I see it with my own eyes  However just for a tease, the Suttles name will COMPLETLEY disappear in June, (so I'm told)

LOL... I heard a rumor...back in november I guess it was...from a Suttles driver over in Mobile, that Suttles was going to "break-away" from Dana and go it "Solo" again. This particular driver said he has been with Suttles since 83...and that the Suttles clan is miffed over the merger with LTC.

Is there truth to that? Time will tell.

As for me...I'm sitting at home...miffed at the repair shop that has my truck...and bidding my time at Miller...sweating out the economy..just like you all.

Well from most Suttles drivers I talk to and Dana drivers as far as that goes aren't to thrilled with what TLC has brought to the table (2 loads in 16 months for me).

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for but only time will tell.
