Default Ok finally I have the nerve to ask stupid question!

Here goes. Don't the apportioned tag ( license plate)go on the front of the truck? I have a tag mount on the back but not on the front. Right now the tag is on the back , but I recall seeing most tags on the front .No problem to drill a couple of holes on the front if needed. ops:

Apportioned tags go on the front so the DOT can see them as you pass through the scale.

However..If you choose to run with the plate mounted on the back...every state you pass through will be happy to hug you and give you some lovein as they dig into your pocket !!!

I never could understand why some manufacturers even put rear plate brackets on their trucks.

Glad you brought that up . Having a tag bracket on the back did somewhat confuse but I guess they figure there are different ways to tag a truck but I am only speculating. What really got me to thinking other than seeing other trucks with the tag on the front bumper was a show I was watching a couple of weeks ago. It was on Discovery ( or some sort of educational channel) and they were talking about the new
advances in trucking . They showed a weigh station that read the front
tag on the truck as it passed thru with a camera . I just kept thinking
to myself , I know the tags gotta go up front but heck I already got a bracket on back . Anyway I know for sure now.

If you want a tag for the rear I am sure that they will gladly sell you an extra tag for the same price as the one for the front.

Isn't your truck a straight truck? If so, doesn't the tag go on the rear?

You probably need two tags, in that case.
