Overhaul, Rebuild, Inframe
What is the difference between the three. I have read where either one or the other is discussed, and have a pretty good idea what Overhaul, and Rebuild (Are the same I believe) if not, someone let me know.
But what is an Inframe. What does it consist of?

To the best of my knowledge, a rebuild is an overhaul. With an inframe, I believe all the parts are replaced that can be "got at" like rods, rings, pistoins, crank bearings.
I believe the out-of frame O/H includes cyclinder prep (boring/finsihing or sleeve replacement). Gman, again, is the authority on this :roll: :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I do believe that rebuild is the same as overhaul,though,I could be wrong. I just figured it depended on how you called it. Some people call it rebuild,and some call it overhaul.
In-frame overhaul is a rebuild kit for the crankcase. Piston kits,cylinder kits,main bearings,etc...

Most people call an in-frame and out of frame rebuild an overhaul. An in-frame includes rod bearings, main bearings, sleeve kits (pistons, etc., ) and gaskets. It includes most everything but the major components. During an in-frame everything should be checked and replaced, as needed. An out of frame will likely include major components such as the crankshaft, etc., If you do an in-frame the major components are less likely to fail than if you wait until a major engine failure occurs. Once the engine complete fails, then you are more likely to suffer additional component damage which could include the block. One other thing you didn't mention is the re-manufactured engine. These are usually done at the factory. Basically, you take out the old engine an put in the new one. A remain engine has been rebuilt from the ground up.
