Default which road do ya thank?

First of all I'm not driving or anything at this time.
Last year before I left my current employer to go to work for deBoer I had several different medical check-ups done while I still had good insurance. The last one almost killed me,it was a colonoscopy gone awry.
That resulted in removing all my inards and washing them, then repacking me.
So if things go right I'll be getting my settlement or going to trial about March. My wife who has several years working for brokers and various trucking companies in Dallas and I are talking about starting our own biz.

I need to pay my dues like everyone and thing I should start from scratch, let someone else pay for my education if you will.
So here's my main questions.
1. Should I just drive for a year or two for a company before going on my own and starting up?
2. Buy an older truck or 2 and trailers to go with them and let my wife run the biz while I drive for "nosepicker freight" paying my dues?
3. Go for broke and go to driving school then hit the road on my own with wifeypoo getting loads and dispatching me and maybe another joker.

Before you ask, there's a cap on medical malpratice here in Texas of 250k with an aggregate of 750k, so I can't retire...I'm almost 50 and the lawyer gets 40%......

If you plan on hiring drivers at some point, I suggest you driver for at least a couple of years for a carrier. It will save you a lot of headaches by learning this business from the ground up. Insurance is very expensive until you get a couple of years experience. Running your authority requires a lot of up front costs. I would not suggest you start with your own authority unless you have plenty of money to sustain yourself until you learn the business.
