DD60
How much and what year was it? Im looking for a decent 53 foot reefer right now.
What I seen you can easy plan on spending 10,000.00 plus on a reefer. Unless you find one that the reefer unit not working.

but think I am better to branch into flatbed cuz Steve seems to always be doing well, probably be at least a couple of years befor that cuz a bit of work to change the authority around and get another trailer and probably sell the van
Ok Here I am a Dumby question. With your authority you have to say you'll be doing DryVan, Flatbed or Reefer? For I was planning on having all 3 trailers. Pending what I feel like hauling that time out, and the mood I am in. My home town has more flatbed loads, but also 3 trucking company serving that one type of industry, but they also have reefer and dryvans. I do see more Flatbed loads than anything else on the load boards. But before I sit down and do flat beds, I want to be able to get the Roll Tite system on a trailer due to tarping for me would be a problem.

They only ask that for informational purposes. You can pull any kind of trailer you want. You're authority does not specify anything in particular.

As far as reefer prices go, you'd better be prepared to spend a lot more than $10,000. There's a whole lot more to reefers than other trailers. You might get a trailer that's roadworthy with a unit that runs for $10,000 but how reliable is it going to be? If that reefer shuts down on you for just half an hour while under a load you could be looking at a total loss. You may also have a harder time getting reefer breakdown coverage on a unit that old.

No Worries, I agree, the price I mention atleast 10,000.00 is what I seen as listed prices. but the better one will be higher.

Sorry for the late response. I was looking at spending around 10-15k for a 99-2001 utility or great dane with a carrier ultra or thermo king whisper unit. Most of the dealers want at least 25k. SO far I found one good one on ebay. The bid ends on wed. Hopefully they won't bid too high. Pepe, did you buy that trailer on ebay?

Well, I was going to mention that I'm thinking about selling my '98, but not at that price 8) When buying a reefer keep a close eye on those hours and the floor. Those are the two most important parts and the ones most likely to have problems on an older trailer. Also, I'd have a tech run an inspection on the unit if at all possible. There are lots of clues those guys can detect before a unit costs you money.

I'm looking to upgrade, although I'm open to new things right up until I make a decision. If I don't see some decent pick-up over the next month, I may take the rest of the year off. I really don't like the environment right now.
