Just FYI Rev,
When I bought my truck it had a 5,000 watt selfcontained air cooled diesel genset on it. They had it sitting on a frame rack. There was no way for them to keep fuel in it because of the small fuel tank. They drilled a hole in the fuel tank cap and sealed it shut with blue gasket silicone. Then they placed a small plastic tank on the catwalk,ran a hose down to the fitting on the fuel cap,...and walla. Everytime they filled it up the fuel tank, it would overflow from somewhere on the cap,..until the plastic tank was empty. The unit ran but it was horribly loud and shook the crap out of the truck.
I hope your system is going to work out better than the one that was on mine.

 

The small fuel tank was a concern of mine as well. The generator, however, has a vacuum fuel pump, and I plan to eliminate the fuel tank entirely, tapping into the passenger side saddle tank. I was planning on running it for a while with the stock fuel tank, but I may end up having it done this weekend yet, as there appears to be an easy place to tap into the tank on the top.

You should see the box I had built for this thing. Brinks ain't got nothin on me. :wink: The entire box is 1/8" steel, and is lined on the inside with sound deadening material. The exhaust is routed 10 feet away from the generator to the back of the tractor. The double door is lined with weather stripping, which will prevent the door from rattling. There is a 12V radiator fan on the back of the box which moves 500 cubic feet of air per minute, and there are two vents in the front to provide fresh air. The box is bolted directly to the frame via six 5/8" frame bolts. The generator is bolted directly to the box on the bottom. My air conditioner is already installed. I was planning on installing it in the back of the sleeper, but I was concerned about cutting a hole in the sleeper. I ended up removing the side window on the passenger side of the sleeper, and I installed the air conditioner there. It sticks out less than one inch. I'm having a surround built for it, which will be painted the same cream color as the truck to further hide the fact that it is there.

Rev FYI a lot of noise on small diesels comes from the air intake.

Something to check when you check the sound level.
