Tell them you need something that will remove decals, without hurting the paint. There is a spray on material, that does not affect the paint...but I forget it's name. Either type of those business should be able to steer you to it!

Vegetable oil will work for residue. You have to realize that you will always see an outline, since the paint underneath the decals were not exposed to UV rays for how many years?

Only really 2 ways to solve the problem.
1) New paint job 2) Put new decals over top the outlining

The answers are there, But I do not know where. Optimistic and hopeful dreams, Are all I have so it seems. The future I do not know, So all I can do is take it slow. But I do know it will work out, So I wait and watch without a doubt.

Once you get all of the residue off you may get some rubbing compound and use it over the area. The outline comes from the sun and fading. That is the only thing that I can think of that might help. Once you use the rubbing compound use a good was and buff it out. Hopefully, it will get rid of it.
